I intend to be fully selfish tomorrow, well for 200 km at least. No doubt I will have to stop at a gasser to smear my organic trace matter all over the bowsers, and may even go and cough up in a cafe somewhere. Best way to get the table you want!
I’d say ride but ride don’t push the boundaries. Yes if you had an off you’d be placing additional load on healthcare, you’d also expose yourself to risk of both exposure and also lower standards of care because attention is spread fairly thin in places (despite the best efforts of our healthcare workers). That being said, if life doesn’t go on and people don’t do the things they enjoy, it’ll affect people’s mental well-being and that also has a burden on healthcare. I’d guess the roads are somewhat quieter at the moment too so that lowers your risk.
How long does a MOT last for now in the UK? we have our equivalent, WOF, which goes for 3yrs on a new bike/car and then 1 yr intervals. Anything later than 2000 is a 1 yr WOF and anything before that is 6 months IIRC.
Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I have been going back and forth on it , working from home and self isolating all week and I was just going to spin the wheels of the Hyper with a little bimble with my Nephew on his Kwak as he need to get some charge in the battery this morning . But I cancelled it . I am a kidney transplant patient and hospital is the last place I want to be plus I would be embarrassed to using up even more of the NHS resources if the worse happened .At lest I get to see the Grandkids yesterday ...sort of
Guys just get some exercise Just bimble about look around you I’m sure you can all be sensible I’m sure A &E had drunk people to deal with after the pubs closed last night bet they didn’t worry about it.
Spoken to a couple of friends in France this week. No leisure cycling, mountaineering, climbing. Only walking or jogging permitted. We're rapidly approaching capacity in the hospitals. We should be reducing risk here now. Better to do it by choice than have it taken away. We're having leave cancelled (not much point I guess!) and invited back to the frontline. The workforce mobilisation in action is huge but it still won't be enough. If I go back (Its a worry, sounds pretty grim and limited PPE) Id be likely taking xrays of every Corona case coming through the door on a shift. Id ride with caution, in familiar areas at lower speeds with all the gear. And as infrequently as you can bear, if at all. Time to be good grown ups!
Totally get it from both sides here but I couldn’t help myself, just got back in, took the old girl for a gentle ride to stretch her legs, didn’t push it but loved it nonetheless. Post “trundle” pic con bins...
Woman in her 30’s from Southampton died today on her bike at Ansty just a few miles up the road from us on the A30.
