The new V twin engine in the 1200 Dorsoduro is also made by Aprilia. The Rotax lump is not manufactured anymore. The one i had was a pile of rubbish anyway.
Guy Martin, a man who can always blame His lack of success on being "full time employed as a grimy truck fitter" He & his mrs sleep in a van with his Mountain bikes (£££s worth!) even though he's quite obviously loaded and sponsored up to the eyeballs. (He drives an Aston Martin FFS!) Epic fail or Epic success? - a marketing mans dream. The eddie the eagle of bike racing. Looking at his lack of achievement you have to ask how he has got so much coverage.
I wish I was such a failure! That's like the famous George best question....where did it all go wrong George? He gets the coverage because he's a character, we all agree anything that generates coverage is a good thing and he's won just about every other road race, and most believe the TT is just a question of time. Guy Martin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Now where did I park my losers Aston?
Don't necessarily agree that any coverage is good coverage. Lately it's all high gloss & Footballers wives bullshit. There r Plenty riders out there as good as him not getting the money or the bikes. Itv especially focus on the "characters", the jobbing racers barely get a mention. As someone else said you'd swear only ten people race a tt. Let's see some racing - uncut, programmes not full of fillers and not 24 hours or more late. P.S. I fall off with great style also, I'd like a losers Aston please
As I said originally poor coverage is better than no coverage but, what I should have said was by having the likes of Guy in the media spotlight it raises the profile and awareness of road racing and hopefully the coverage. It was me that said you'd think there was only 10 riders in the TT. I'd love to see more of the racing live, that was my original gripe, the next day screening of the TT racing, but being realistic...it ain't gonn happen any time soon, just look what the BBC does with MotoGP, only the GP class shown and they 'run out' of time every time it's on and we either miss the podium etc. or we need to try and get the red button channel on. That must be your motor parked beside mine then.
I was at this years TT that Norton did not even complete a full lap it was the loudest bike out there( sounded good) ---------------------then it was the loudest bang( main fuse in engine blew)----------- then the quietest regards Steve B
When I was there spannering for Hudson, they had demo laps by a Moto 2 bike...Jeez.....to hear that screaming past on the Glencrutchery road at full chat.......and that was the year before he went there with Splitlath Aprilia...and the Aprilia didnt finish 2 laps there then either.
Yes think it was mine and yours, it's common as muck now Ant. Thinking of trading it for something more exotic like a pagani zonda Us losers need more exposure!!
Don't agree that Guy Martin is a good example any more. The guy is a moaning baboon, who comes across not just as a happy go lucky eccentric as he used to but someone who wants it his way or no way, although he's not actually paying for it. If its not 100% why should he give 100%?! Type attitude. Agree more coverage of the races would be good as well as more insight into those guys building a bike in a shed etc, and think ITV missed a trick that BBC NI use with the NW200; why not stick lots of content online? Extended highlight of the races (not sure live would be very exciting) plus more behind the scenes.
What about a Ducati race bike? None of these are actually made by Ducati.... Wheels Frame Suspension Conrods Carbon Fairings Electronics Brakes Calipers Master cylinders Coolant Hoses Exhausts other than Termi....
Aren't termi made by a jap company? Big difference is he engine and chassis design is theirs they simply sub contract out those parts for manufacture...not sure i could name one company that builds all its own parts?
I didnt notice how good or bad the coverage was this year, heard guy talking a load of drivel and fell asleep missing the rest
I don't know where they are made these days but Luigi Termignoni founded the Termignoni Exhaust company in 1969 and he was a spaghetti bender. So they were neither made by Ducati or Japanese, but were.......welded by blind monkeys with two left hands.
I thought Guy Martin was the nuts til I saw him at the NW200 passing under waved yellows and went on to win the race, not gentlemanly like I thought. Wouldn't begrudge him a win at the TT though, top man generally.
The ITV coverage was poor this year. It's starting to lose itself in the brand image and forgetting what the TT should be about. I also think the TT needs some new heroes. McGuinness is romping the litre bike races these days and all the other 'names' seem to have had their day for various reasons.
In the TT movie he came across as an arse. In the tv prog he did he came across as a nice slightly mad bloke. Who knows which is the real deal....
I use the local pub in kirmington, where he is from and where his parents still live. In all honesty when he's in there he is the second, but not slightly mad....bonkers is the word for it, but he is very friendly and believe it or not knowledgeable. A top bloke, I just don't think he can make his mind up what the future is for him.
