  1. Lewis throwing him the 2nd Place cap was antagonistic. I think the reaction was justified. He may as well have said, there you go, that's the best cap you'll ever get.

Twitter users have already started the let Rossi through thing. The riders are clearly not playing ball.

  2. Oh that's a familiar tail reminds me of a certain Valentino Rossi, not sure why that's even relivant

  3. The hamilton thing was brilliant. Why not wind him up? Beat your team mate, mbit of race comtrovesy too, mand rub it in.

    Yep, brilliant

  4. Nico Rosberg has played down his 'cap spat' with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton after the United States GP.

Rosberg reacted indignantly in the pre-podium holding room after Hamilton had tossed him his cap by throwing it back at the newly-recrowned world champion.

"It was nothing, just our typical games," Rosberg told Sky Sports News HQ.
Rosberg's anger was compounded by his unforced error which handed Hamilton victory in the closing stages. The German had no explanation for the mistake but, in a revealing insight, bristled at the sympathy from one interviewer.
"It's not luck," responded a crestfallen Rosberg. "It's a lack of talent in that moment."

I know what you mean about ellipsis though...(although I just hit the full stop key- I'm not bothered about the the three dot/space either side rule, fook the style police...)
And Rossi should have the penalty rescinded?removed? whatever...they were both guilty as fook, they both have form,(how Jorge can forgive what MM's done to him in the past I don't know).Better to just say behave yourselves, you've gone too far etc
Maybe it's a Latin thing on bikes?
I don't recall it happening in the old GP days : is it because riders feel a lot safer nowadays, big run off areas/air bag suits etc ,so they feel able to misbehave?
I read somewhere that as good as Schumacher was,he was never that popular in Germany-I'm interested to know how MM is considered in Spain

  5. Watched up to the crash again last night on a nice big screen. If rossi hadnt have done that, and the outcome been so extreme (although I dont believe he intended it) Rossi would be in hospital now having been knocked off by marquez at 140 mph

Now Kato would probably be grinning, as his voodoo doll is clearly not workimg, but who knows how bad that could have been?

  6. How big is your Crystal ball?

  7. Fucking huge

  8. Bradders I don't think that would be the case at all and certainly hope not never good to see riders whoever they are get hurt, its not all over yet there have been some amazing rides from the back of the grid, I'm expecting Rossi to be in the top ten by lap 3 I don't think he has a chance in hell of winning the race but certainly could make 5th or 6th so you just have to hope that Dani & Marc can beat Jorge and that'll be enough for your man.

Which ever way you look at it VR has had a lot of luck this season so no reason for that not to be the case in Valencia, if however as he is currently threatening he doesn't turn up, well then its time to pull down the shutters and hang up the boots

  9. I seriously think Marc will have a "brake problem" or "tyre problem", forcing him to run very wide at the moment JLo is behind him. That will gift JLo the championship as Rossi would then have to try and get 3rd... Which MM will not give up.

I think he'll do it as a huge Fuck You to Rossi.

If MM stays true to the fairness of the championship and fights or beats JLo, then I think Rossi has a chance of getting top 6.

  10. Not a problem , but obviously someone needed to

  11. Lorenzo looked to be suffering from heat exhaustion after the race.
Maybe I've missed something but is there any evidence of him being in race direction after the race other than Neil Hodgsons comments.

    From crash.

Lorenzo flatly denied being present in Race Direction when the incident was under review following reports that the Yamaha rider had entered the office and was reacting angrily to the decision.

  13. To be fair, that could have happened to either of them, they were overtaking each other in some fast corners.

Look at Cal on Dovi. It's never been mentioned, but Dovi fell from a much greater speed.

  14. I have just finished reading this superb piece written by David Emmett over on motomatters.com

David's definitely my favourite writer of all things motogp and somehow manages to always have an unbiased clear view

I think this particular piece puts things in perspective and doesn't side with anybody, in fact it's like a telling off from the school teacher :)

Thanks to Dave and hopefully you don't mind me sharing. It's a long read chaps but I think well worth it.

  15. I'm not convinced about what Rossi said about Marquez in Australia being true. He looked to be riding pretty hard to me.

However Marquez was clearly miffed after the Sepang press conference and that showed in practice / qualifying & the race. He was absolutely determined to do Rossi no favours.

I don't think Marquez will stay true to the championship if he has the chance in Valencia to hurt Rossi's championship. I'm not so sure if it's for the win though, it might be a prize to big for him to ignore. He may give it up though. At 22 and with 4 championships under his belt, you have to say he has a very good chance of beating Rossi's 9, 10 may be a little more difficult. Rossi's comments in the press conference were all thought out to keep Marquez honest, but backfired in a big way. The incident in the race has only thrown fuel on the fire.

  16. Interesting article in MCN this morning. To quote a section.

In the aftermath, opinion was turned against Rossi with all the usual eagerness that prevails when somebody exalted is being knocked off their pedestal – all egged on when rival riders had their gleefully condemnatory say, without having really examined the evidence. The halo had slipped. The hero was an unsportsmanlike villain.
Trouble is, of the two stories, the more you analyse them, and the more you look at the footage, it is actually Rossi’s version that is more plausible. He did wrong, yes … but not that wrong.
I have a feeling that in the fullness of time, not only will he be forgiven, but Marquez’s reputation will suffer from more detailed scrutiny.
And now all we have to do is wait to see what happens next.

The headline being, did he (MM) crash or did he dive ?

  17. The reason Rossi got bummed is because his offence was executed with huge intent. Just before the off he was gesticulating angrily to MM so he was clearly ruffled. For the incident itself he was looking directly at MM and not where he was going, slowed down to collect MM and push him wide and off track. The Rossiettes are crying that MM 'pushed' against VR causing the spill. What desperate bollocks. If someone were to gently push you somewhere you didn't want to go, like into a canal, you'd resist and push back. That's all MM was doing.
When I watched it real time I thought VR would get disqualified. Minimum. I think he got off lightly.

  18. Just read that, very interesting. I did pick up on this bit which kind of lines up with my thinking on it.

At Sepang, he (Rossi) once again found himself losing out against a younger rider in a direct battle. And fighting with Márquez is even worse than battling Pedrosa, Lorenzo or Iannone. Márquez has always said he was a Valentino Rossi fan, and the one element of Rossi's style which he has copied and improved upon is the counter attack. Any time Rossi is passed in one corner, it is a racing certainty that he will try to pass straight back, either at the next corner or on the exit of the turn he was passed in. Márquez does the same, but he brings his own extra tools to the skills he learned from studying Rossi. One of the reasons Márquez spends so much time practicing flat track is to be comfortable around other riders, and finding ways to try to pass them when it does not seem possible. Marc Márquez has found a way to beat Valentino Rossi at his own game. And Valentino Rossi does not like that one bit.

So Rossi faced a rival capable of beating him at his own game. He also faced a rival who he had spent the whole weekend goading, after his outburst in the press conference accusing Márquez of trying to help Lorenzo. It was not as if Márquez needed much encouragement: the clash at Argentina had not sat well with Márquez, but the incident at Assen had infuriated him. Márquez believed – utterly wrongly – that he should have been awarded the win at Assen, when he slammed into Rossi and forced the Italian into the gravel, unwittingly handing him victory. Those two incidents had bred resentment, and Rossi added another twist speaking to Italian media. Márquez' manager, Emilio Alzamora, had told him that Márquez believed that Rossi had knocked him out of the championship, because of the crash in Argentina and second place at Assen.
When Valentino Rossi sat in the press conference at Sepang and accused Márquez of helping Lorenzo, it merely enraged him further. Whether or not there was any truth to Rossi's accusations of his behavior at Phillip Island, at Sepang, it was inevitable that there would be at Sepang. Márquez was determined that if he could not win the race, then he was going to do whatever it took to make Rossi's life hell.

  19. I guess it comes down on that basis as to whether anything goes provided there isn't a rule against it.
Rossi broke the rules, it's not in question. What is in question is whether MM deliberately put himself and VR in the situation that led to it and whether that is acceptable.
That is a can of worms as technically MM did nothing wrong, but racing and sport in general is about more than the written rule alone.
