How would I know that? So when you posted that it was your experience of the brand and the picture of the failed shock...it was actually someone else’s experience?
Is there any information specifying suitable spring rates versus rider weight? I know that at 80kg my 749 bip’s standard shock feels to be inadequately sprung. But having not tried set the sag yet this could be just a feeling.
Although this doesn't help at all here but my advice is to get advice. I just told my Öhlins guy (who is a former employee) my weight and riding style and he choose spring and shim settings based on that and I can say that it is absolutely perfect. It couldn't be any better! A suspension starts to be your suspension if you invest just some hundred quid and get it set to your needs Raoul
Racetech have a calculator online. I’d agree with above unless you can do all the work yourself, get some advice - I’d recommend MCT, Darren is really helpful and knowledgable.
The new shock turned up and I’ve installed it - I also took the opportunity replace the ride height adjuster which was FUBAR and clean and regrease the linkage and swingarm pivot. The build quality and finish on the shock are excellent as you’d expect, glad I got the black spring which is matchy matchy with the remote reservoir, it’s nice that’s it’s made in this country as well. Hopefully it’ll be a vast improvement over stock, I’ll have a set of S22s on Monday so I’ll be able to go for a ride next week.
