1200 Sidestand Bolt Failure

  1. I did ask the machine shop guy if he could make them from gold plated titanium and he said he can do them, so long as i accept that they will be made from this

    For AirCon though, I'll deliver his in a nice little bag with red sparkles and nicely tied with ducati red bows

  4. I'm swithering. The bike is just gone 5 years old with coming up for 35,000 miles but the play in the sidestand pivot is negligible, about a mm.

  5. That's the side stand switch bolt. Remove that and you'll see the stand bolt underneath

  15. There was a thread a while ago about this issue as my side stand bolt was missing and the bike was leaning over far more than normal. Dropped into Laguna's and the mechanic couldn't quite fathom how the bolt had come out as part of the frame/bike partially obscured the bolt head. As he had a job putting another bolt in. From memory it wasn't a direct Ducati replacement part. Which is probably why it's been fine ever since!

  17. Sounds like this should form part of a Ducati Safety Recall programme to me? Not much fun when the Mutley falls over and pins you to the ground (I tested this by 'not' using the side stand once!).
