I know I’ve ridden a few places that have been very abrasive, and had to change pressures and suspension a fair amount. The test will be the MGP boys: if they destroy tyres, a trackday there is going to be uber-expensive!
The instructor bikes all run on Rosso3's, which seem to be wearing really well However, I took my own bike on Monday to get a few laps in between instructing to test out the motor, and even after about 8 laps in total, my rear was pretty worn I asked the question, and apparently it's because the surface is literally brand new, the stones still have quite sharp edges on them, but will wear down in a shortish time. It was properly grippy though, and bits where I'd normally spin the rear up, would just grip and grip The Michelin guys have been there testing in advance of the GP, so will have a compound ready for it (there's a few GP tracks which are always super abrasive, so this is nothing next to them), so I expect some very fast times as long as the weather plays ball
That's really interesting @graeme4130, good insight. What were the temps like when you were out? I found on the Duc UK day that I was shredding the rear but started to clear up a little with some comp, rebound and pressures adjustment. But the day was also quite cool so suspect the track temp was also a factor.
