Silverstone Motogp, Who's Going?

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Ben Ely, Jun 25, 2014.

  1. Yahoo! My tickets have arrived. I managed to get seats in the Luffield Ducati stand. Silverstone Circuit had sold out but bookmoto.com had seats.

I can't wait, but I bet it won't be as warm as our trip to Jerez earlier this year - 35deg! :)

  2. I'm really hoping it's dry. Thruxton was too wet

  3. Ticket prices are a Joke

i understand they have to pay for the venue, staff, riders, etc etc but come on nearly 80 quid a ticket for 3 races

  4. Parking's a joke too.

Last year me and the mrs threw the bikes on the rack, parked about a mile away and cycled in. Just chained the bikes up under the stands. Was pretty good over Friday and Saturday as you could cycle round and watch from different points, way easier than walking and having to put up with the moans of "oh my feet are sore". Also on the sunday we cycled straight out and we didn't have to wait that long get onto the dual carriageway home. Also got Colin Edwards to sign my fixie :) he's a nice chap old Colin.

however thinking about it I did have to put up with "god this seat is not comfy, its hurting my lady bits"...

  5. The wife n I will be arriving Wednesday afternoon an me buddy and his wife Thursday night. Haven't been for at least 2 years so looking forward to it. Doing day of champions, last time we did that was donington.

  6. What happened, did the dye in your dodgy leathers run?

  7. I did say... I only wear those when I walk the dog... no dogs allowed in thruxton!

  8. I dunno, you seem some of the, brolly dollies?! :Depressed:

  9. Dorna require a huge amount of money from promoters to bring the GP circus to their track. Silverstone are in negotiations and have been for a while but Dorna won't budge. It got so bad a few years ago that Palmer told 'em to take a hike which is why Brands no longer had the GP or WSB. The greed in motor sport rights owners is why people like Mr Ecclestone can pay off a German court court case out of petty cash. Andy

  10. I'd rather shag them with no clothes on rather than you with your best suit on :p

  11. The missus, a mate and I are going up on the Friday early morning, staying in the Family camping this year though as we had some dickeds dancing to rave music on top of there van at 4am in the lively camping. we'll be watching from the bank between Becketts and Aintree, its a great spot we found last year.

  12. I'll be heading up on the Sunday :)

  13. Hmmm, the weather's not looking too good at the moment although Sunday looks dry. My plan was to head up Thursday and pitch in the family camp site but if it's raining I'll go Fri morning.

Is the bike park far from the camp site? Just wondering how far I have to lug my gear.

    Cheers

    Kevin

  14. Sadly can't get the time off for the Day of Champions on Thursday but will be there Friday although probably on my own as my girlfriend is the boss this week. The Mutley needs a run out so despite the weather I'll probably use it on the Friday and just hoping that the leaking turbo intercooler is replaced on the car in time so we can use it over the weekend. Tried to find some local(ish) accomodation but stopped looking when I was getting room rates of £660 for 2 nights. Got tickets for Becketts so if you are nearby and see a white haired 6ft old git in Ducati Dianese kit it might be me so give us a wave :upyeah:. Andy

  15. Think we are at club corner

  16. Just might be able to make you out with the binoculars although you might have to jump up and down a bit. Anyone know where the feeding stations are ? Keen to maintain this temple of a body in the right proportions so I don't have to start looking for new kit in a smaller size :). Andy

  17. I may go for qually, depends on work

  18. Food is usually by the back if the stands behind the old start finish straight. Last year the carpet burger and chips were not too bad, expensive but edible.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  19. Is that the straight immediately after Club or where we were for the Ducati day at the end of July ? It had been years since I last went to Silverstone so with all the remodelling I haven't got a clue where anything is. Andy
