I just can’t decide. There’s £1200 difference between a base model and an S but I just can’t decide which to go for. Can someone make the decision for me please
I have had a 2017 S Touring since August, havent stopped smiling, the skyhook and all the other settings threw me for a bit but once you work out how to change settings it is awesome.....I have been on Triumph's for a good 15 years and this is by far the best bike I have ridden......get one and keep smiling
Many thanks David appreciate the feedback. Is yours 1260 or 1200? Do you run with luggage and or pillion?
Went for a 2015 1200S in the end. Absolutely love it. Picked it up yesterday and rode 60 miles home on it. Its got 19k on the clock and is absolutely mint. Comes with top box and panniers. Really love the electronic suspension. Thanks for all the advice.
Thanks Sam. Yes it has, at 5 years just short of 17k miles. FSH with it. Leeds Ducati gave it a service before it left too.
Just to add to my own post for the benefit of others; after having ridden my new bike (2015s) I am glad to have gone with the S. I’ve got luggage and will be taking a pillion so really good to be able to change settings at the touch of a button. Real difference. between the settings. If you arent taking luggage and pillion then standard suspension set up properly would be perfect but the ease of changing between payloads is great. Plus it lessens dive on the brakes and supports more when you’re accelerating. I haven’t felt the same vagueness of feeling or change of damping feeling mid corner that others have reported with the skyhook. Hope this helps someone who had the same quandary as I did.
I always think that detached feeling in simply because of the distance between your hands and the road as it’s a tall, wide bike. Some feel it, others don’t.
Yes absolutely. Coming from sportsbikes and nakeds i can imagine it’s that which many people experience. I’ve had a tiger 800 previously and when you first change it definitely feels a long way to the front axle Multistrada definitely is more sporty and direct in its feedback than other adventure bikes I’ve ridden.
On the DVT models check that the front preload is setup correctly. Heard that the front right fork leg adjuster is only wound in half to one turn from the factory and sure enough on my 1260 that was the case. Wound it in to 5 1/2 turns and it transformed the bike. Think there's a spec somewhere for the number of turns required depending on the rider's weight. Can't recall what that is so some research/experimentation might be required.
Many thanks Bumpkin, will check it out. It’s got 19k on the clock so going to get our local suspension specialist, Kais, to service, change oil and set it up for me.
