Laguna Seca is a blast - the elevation changes are dramatic. It's the most expensive track to ride around here, and they have noise restrictions, so you need to have a stock exhaust or have a silencer insert. They have a sound person monitoring at turn 5 and will meatball you based on the db meter. Really pisses us off around here - a bunch a rich people moved near a racetrack and then complain about the noise! I prefer the tighter tracks too - that brings up another point re the multi that bugs me - I wish the wheelbase were shorter. It would be great to hear your thoughts w/ the multi on a tight track.... Actually, I wonder about that plus whether a steering damper may be needed. When I first got the multi and got it zipping around in the triple digit MPHs, I thought I might need a damper. I think this was due to me not being used to the wider bars, so I needed to loosen up a bit. Now I don't feel the need for a damper on the street, but I do wonder about the track.
We have exactly the same issue here: people building houses beside race tracks that have been there for most of a century and then complaining about the noise - pathetic. I can't actually use my sports bike (749R with full Ti Termignoni) on most UK tracks now and have to use a road bike Fortunately, my local track (Knockhill) is in the middle of nowhere so doesn't seem to be as tough on the noise regs, for the moment at least. On some of our tighter tracks, supermotos do very well and they can certainly turn inside the Multi, but positive countersteering on those wide bars goes a long way to offsetting the long wheelbase - you really only notice the length/weight/height through fast chicanes and L/R/L complexes like Hall at Cadwell. I too wondered about a steering damper but, once I'd got used to the feel and not gripping the bars too hard, I not felt the need since - the worst I've ever had from the Mutli is a very minor twitch of the bars when hard on the throttle exiting bends. OTOH I'm not a particularly fast track rider, so YMMV…
Cheers! Nice to hear your perspective and experience. Now you're making want to get out on my bike and ride (which I am fortunate enough to be able to o pretty much year round here)! Finally have a little sun today - El Nino has been doing a number on us, but I won't complain since we've been in a drought.
