Good spot although it's very blurred when enlarged so I didn't notice that Have edited pics out of my post
It was meant to be a simple post that needed no words…but like most things I do I accidentally create work for myself and, more often than not, cost time and/or money to correct
Gave the new bike a proper wash, and degreased the chain again. I’ve no idea what was on there, but it got everywhere, so I’ve now got rid of it all. Aside from riding it, there’s nothing like giving a new bike a good detailing, to get to know it. I don’t normally buy used bikes, this one is only a few months old, I’ve done nearly half the mileage the previous owner did, in the 4 days I’ve had it! And am pleased they were as meticulous as I am about looking after their bikes.
Been on the Martin Jennings run on the 748, discovered that when it gets stupidly hot, it boils the front brake fluid so the lever goes back to the bar. Teenagers bimota ran out of fuel so pushed that for 1/2 mile in this heat, which was fun, as the fuel light doesn't work, the fuel pump seal is leaking and it sounds like the head gasket has probably gone as well . I love old Italian motorbikes... (I know the bimota has a bmw engine but meh )
Got the garage sorted ready for the 750ss to land later this week. Also a BFO chain and anchor which I will bolt in later.
Removed the rave valve blade to find it’s broken at the stem, hence no full power £70 for a non genuine version. Need to understand why it broke as it seems the only fatigue would be from being pulled too much and hitting the housing.
Been in the garage, few bits I’m giving away or binning…ping me if anyone wants them and I’ll ping details. I don’t post, so be prepared to collect! Getting garage reorganised for bike work rather than car storage now I’m using the 911 as more of an every day car and it lives in the drive. Have a few others bits I’ll post at some point
Been plodding on with the exhaust install. Had a longer than necessary wait for the new exhaust gaskets to arrive… have enjoyed the process so far. My advice to anyone who is considering fitting one themselves would be to read the instructions carefully, they are actually very good imo.
Hit a bit of a stumbling block when fitting the DP swing arm protector. It doesn’t seem to be compatible with the ridiculous mudguard / chain guard that’s supplied with the soot pipe.
Sons bike playing up in a heavy downpour, thought it may be coil playing up, turned out to be the HT lead that had a piece of plastic tube over it holding water causing the bike to cut out. Removed and running sweetly again.
Painted the back of the replacement metal number plate with heat resistant paint, drilled and fitted it. Hoping this one doesn’t melt or fall off.
Dropped the Multi off at Motovation for Tim to do a service yesterday. He messaged me this morning to say it was ready. Anyone in the Cheltenham area that needs work doing on their Ducati he's recommended. Experienced Ducati mechanic.
Decided I need to star the track slag transformation. Rear sets: how difficult is this bike to work on?! Every time I try something I end up wanting to burn it or sell it. Race bike bred my arse! also worked out why my bike may sit higher than Cookster’s…
Managed to do Aluminium welding for the first time, to make a lightweight fairing mount for my mate's (KTM 125 endurance) race bike. It was as tricky as everyone said, but the job got jobbed
Fitted new power valve blade to lads Aprilia after the above failed. Fitted Garmin cradle to his bike too, he just needs to find the head unit…..
