  1. Exactly this, years subscription and to give the club a day for one of their events.

  2. Might be tempted to have a go, is it trials bikes, or motocross bikes?

  3. Trials only, no pit bikes, crossers and such. On the track in you’ll see MotoX bikes and other such bikes but they aren’t allowed into the trials area. The gate at the entrance is locked, you get a key once you’ve paid your joining fee.

  5. managed to (potentially) save a neglected wet 6 V battery, trickle charger wouldn't acknowledge any voltage to start with so tricked it with a conventional charger for half an hour. will check tomorrow to see if it has long-term damage, looks brand-new but levels down etc.

  6. Each dealer is getting 2 x ZX4RR, 2 x ZX6R, and 2 x ZX10R in the anniversary colours, the one pictured is already sold, it is a very limited production of the anniversary edition

  7. Had to move the 996 out of the workshop, to get this piece of shit in, it needs a bit of work, and a few new parts, my youngest sons Aprilia SX50

  8. Couldn't decide if this qualified as a random Ducati picture or if it it's a small bike thing. I went for a ride :D Andy

  11. Madness!

  12. My Sons SX50 was fine with just the usual indicator wiring issues and a HT cap not seated properly. It was unrestricted but he never rode it over 50mph, I did but not for very long.

I’ll guess you’re aware of PJME in Wednesfield for some parts?

He’s on a MX125 as he couldn’t bear the thought of riding a 4 stroke at such a tender age and before he smelt like an old person.

  13. My son should have been usingnit for his CBT today, but, unfortunately, it died, managed to get it back home, in the workshop, to have a look at it

The bike has got a few non standard parts, according to the parts catalogue, it has different front caliper, different carb, and a few other bits

The front brakes were, interesting, to say the least

When removing parts, I noticed that the HT lead was not fully seated on the plug, the choke cable was not seated correctly in the metal tube, the metal ferrule on the end of the cable sleeve was sitting at an angle at the end of the tube it is supposed to sit in, thus, holding the choke on slightly, probable cause of it dying

Also, where the throttle cable goes in to the top of the carb, the plastic top cover was broken off, where the metal tube screws in (circled)

The throttle seems a bit stiff, and doesn't return to tickler when releasing, possible cable issue

There is an Aprilia dealer in Leicester, not far from where my brother in law lives, so, he could pick up a new cable if needed

  14. A slightly neglected bike then, it happens to these. We were lucky as the lad who previously owned Father was an agricultural machinery mechanic so it was fairly well maintained.

He ran his SX50 on E5 fuel and fully synthetic 2 stroke oil, the times when we couldn’t put E5 in when in Wales the performance and economy suffered.

Hopefully once you’ve ironed out these little niggles it won’t trouble you.

Did the CBT allow him the use of one of their hire bikes?

I found it better to order parts from Fowlers if you want it quickly as the dealers will charge you the postage from Fowlers to the dealer if it’s not in their regular order.

  15. Did a lovely 90 miles in a balmy 12° with a stop halfway for lunch. Baked beans made by the cafe chef, cherry tomatoes, sweet pepper and (lots of) smokey chorizo all on sourdough toast topped with a fried egg :yum Another couple of runs during the week and that’s the 600 miles up and ready for service and to be let loose :D I’ve ridden all year round for the whole of my motorcycling life, not going to let a bit of mud and shit stop me now.
