Took my son’s bike to Billy’s Pulborough for an MOT. It failed for small number plate and loud exhaust (advisory). Kids eh ?
Valve check time on the tuono. It does make me laugh when I read comments about service costs on new bikes. 200bhp per litre and you complain about a desmo service.
Reinstalled the tank on the 1098 after the belt change. Had some problems getting it back on as it has the dreaded swelling disease…luckily I have an R so I was able to loosen off the steering damper bracket which allowed me to jiggle the tank back on. Damper bracket now re-tightened but it’s basically right up against the tank. Not worried about marking the tank particularly as it currently has a black one on it - original red one is in the loft.
Managed to get the exhaust studs out for re zinc’ing with a tiny bit of Plusgas and a quick tap with the hammer. Cheers @Sev, the covers are spot on.
Did some more on my 996, but, had to stop, as my youngest son needed some tuition on riding a geared bike, he did his CBT on a rev & go scooter
Got an engine light on the pani when I started it. Wasn’t there before I changed to track fairing so suspect I may have left the air temp sensor off…starts and runs fine no smoke or noises or anything so need to take all off again and check. May stick road kit back in for selling as people don’t like an orange MIL light because lamps aren’t plugged in
Unplugged the cocoon, unzipped the top and hauled it off the bike. Took the steering lock off and sat on the bike, resulting in a broad smile. Sat there for a minute or two, got off, zipped it back up and plugged it in. Simple but it made me happy. Might tax it in March.
Finally braved the first time taking the fairing off and fitting the engine protection and the sat nav, surprisingly easier than my blade
Dropped (not literally!) the 1299 off the table and moved the garage around to get the car back in this week. Decided I’m going to put it back to road trim again to clear the CEL lights (hopefully) and get it MOTd and ride the bastard. Also need to sort service and MOT on monster ready for April season. This year, 5 trackdays and 4000 miles road riding is the target!
Got rid of a broken monster seat, slightly torn, been carting it round for 10 years or more, chap on here has taken it , one less thing in the cellar
Watched the Hyper get loaded into a van. Nearly dropped the Pikes Peak wheeling it round the garage, because I’m daft.
Brought the 996 out of the workshop, as, all it needs is the panels refitting, the back garden has been waterlogged recently, so, I took advantage of the sub-zero temperature Had it ticking over on the patio for a while, just to warm it up, and try and out a bit of charge in the battery, then I noticed it has pissed its pants Checked the cooling fan with a wire direct to the battery, that works fine
Popped in to my dealer, had a look at the Multi RS, with a sort of view of buying one, but decided to wait to see what Ducati announce later in the year.
