(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. Edit. I’ve thought of a solution using a metal tube as a spigot/insert, wot I just drew while waiting for my opponent in a settlement negotiation to sort out his wifi connection

  2. You’re kind of right!! I’m just gonna have to steal myself when I swing a leg over it at a racetrack. And rag the bejesus out of it. Just bought a KTM Superduke R. So I definitely won’t get another track bike authorised by head office (aka wife) Had to defer big fuck off wall down the garden in order to get the KTM. The negotiations were tense.....

  4. Have you considered the effect of putting the rats nest inside the air box and how it may effect airflow?

  5. Sell the Porsche...

  6. Yes, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make. I'm also going to try leaving the lid and/or panel filter off so it's not a fully enclosed space and see how it runs. I may also try losing most of the box altogether and just have the pods hanging out in the air. The bike is more about show than go and as almost everything that can be removed has been removed, it only weighs about as much as a crisp packet so I'm not concerned about losing a few BHP. I've already changed the exhaust from 2-1-2 to 2-1 by chopping the offside tailpipe back to the point where they branch and welding a blanking plate over the hole, so in for a penny, in for a pound. A custom Ti system is on the wish list, but I sold this bike as a mostly finished project in 2016 then recently bought it back from the guy I sold it to, and not only hasn't he done any further work but he'd neglected the poor girl, so that sort of thing is some way off.

My other 'fighter, Carla (S4/916/Panigale frankenbike) is running pods instead of an airbox as the space was needed for the battery and electrics and she runs ok, save for massive purple flameouts and booming backfires on the overrun, which someone with an 8 year old's mindset might actually see as a positive benefit (see pic below if similarly immaturely inclined). :D

  7. I’ve just charged up the “brain” for my airbag vest as I’m out from 8.30am tomorrow all day on the Scrambler with one of my mates.

I think Rising Bridge, Devils Bridge, Settle and Hawes are on the agenda. :)

However although riding may be brisk we won’t be caning it as no doubt 5-O will be out in force tomorrow.

  8. No chance.... Here comes the summer

  9. And some thermals!! Can’t believe the difference between yesterday and today!!

Just been to get some farm fresh milk on the push iron.... hands were fekin freezing :astonished:

  10. Yep thermals and heated gloves will be used tomorrow :)

  11. took the covers of the bikes, gave the fugly a wee wash and wax and a lil spin up the road, mmm comfy. then i gave the 848 a wee wash and wax and a burl up and down the road too. mmm quick. all with the intension of using them over the next couple of weeks as i am now on holiday.
the wife has just told me its to snow from sunday on.
    boo.

  12. Whilst thrashing my little bluesmoke around the lanes in Shropshire yesterday, the speedo decided to go on the blink. It wasn't that great above 45mph before, now its forked completely. I will take the front wheel off, find out what has died and then buy miniature little parts for a million pounds but not now as the weather is too nice and my Ducati needs a service & MOT.

So my "small bike thing" is getting a portable GPS speedo to keep me out of speed camera troubles in the meantime. £35 via Amazon arrives tomorrow -didn't seem too bad for an instant fix? I'll sell it to the bicycle brigade in a month or so.

  13. Had a lie in till midday as I worked last night , spent the afternoon washing and polishing the Scrambler ready for the service next week .

  14. Yesterday I did 231 miles taking in West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria :)

Tomorrow I’ll be cleaning both bikes :)

  15. Tell me how did you ride two motorcycles at once, what's the secret Terry.

  17. Cool that simple then.:upyeah:

  18. Took the 749 for it’s MOT, I’d taped out the rear indicators thinking that this would give me a Pass as the fronts are missing due to it being fairingless.

It’s a fail as you can’t just tape out the fitted indicators you need to remove them, after a little bit of work it has now passed it’s MOT.

  19. You could just mount your phone and use a GPS speed app if you wanted to save the dosh!

  20. True, but the phone is worth its weight in gold in terms of utility, and say £500 in replacement terms. It may or may not be really waterproof & would need at phone holder- £12? You can't see the screen well in bright sunlight, and I can't charge it on a 6v bike.

So to avoid all the above for £35, then sell it for £20 seemed a better option?
