(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Cream_Revenge, Nov 15, 2018.

  1. Ordered a set of Michelin tyres for my recently acquired 300cc maxi scooter.
The rear is a squared off kenda.
The front is the original maxis, dated 13/14 so 10 years old ! . No wonder I had no feedback, I thought it was just the smaller wheels.
Going to be fun getting the bolts loosened off on a Chinese bike that have never been moved since assembly at the factory a decade ago .

  2. Not found Maxxis to be much cop on motorcycles, their MTB tyres are excellent though.

  3. The spare Multistrada V4 pillion seat I bought from a seller on eBay arrived this morning. It looks brand new so well chuffed for £45 and Evri managed to deliver it within 24 hours of dispatch, without damaging the packaging … result :joy: Andy

  4. They are allegedly delivering my scooter tyres tomorrow , they might ring the doorbell, or just leave them by the front door, or lob them over the gate, or maybe next doors gate , or too the wrong house around the corner . All have happened in the past .

  5. Not me but finally my mate picked up a Multistrada V4 GT from Ducati Alton. He’s been researching for months (14 months actually) and finally pulled the trigger today to become part of the Ducatisti.
    I’m to blame

  9. Stripped the clutch master cylinder on my 750ss. Took about 30 minutes to disassemble and clean everything, about 15 minutes to reassemble, and 2 hours to find the transfer pin after I pinged it across the garage. FFS that was irritating :joy:

  10. Put the newly purchased Gianelli exhaust on the Aprilia today and gave it a clean. It really needs a to be refurbished as it’s gotten too tatty in places. Going to make a start on it in the new year. 277CE73C-5338-43FC-A00A-B163B8B280F4.jpeg

  11. Bought myself a copy of MCN that was published on the exact day of my birth in the 60’s. Only cost a fiver including postage. A lot cheaper (and more interesting for me) than a copy of The Times. Probably frame it and then put it in the loft.

  12. Just reduced the price on a bike I have for sale on Car and Classic. The market still seems very depressed so I will do a reverse auction and over time keep lowering the price till it sells.
I have two, possibly three bikes, to sell and I think the process is going to be slow and painful.

  16. Not as yet doggy. But something I might do after Christmas.

  17. I am now confident that my bike is fixed so finally put oil and filter in the 1098 following the water pump seal failure back in May.
I pulled the gauze filter out to clean it first and this nasty hardened sludge came out with it.
Well, that’s what I think it is - it’s not metallic and crumbles when pressed.

  18. that's bizarre R.. I can't think it's residue from anything in the cooling system including coolant - makes me think of fuel reduced to gum by the colour?

EDIT - Scrub that i thought it was semi-opaque but it isn't is it? Some remains of a sealant? (Threebond comes to mind) - but not sure why it would group in such a large "lump".

  19. Spent the afternoon replacing the fork seals on the MT09. Went with some heavier weight oil and smaller air gap in a bid to help reduce banging the new seals against the stops.
