Got my hands on this very nice adapter (M18.5x10 -> 1/8 gas) which will allow me to plug an AFR gauge and set the idle mixture on my 916.
900 SS ie 20 years old, clutch check , all within spec 3.15 mils left out of 2.5 after 40K miles. F...ed up the first spring retaining bolt with an el-cheapo Allen key because I was to lazy to walk to shed, stupid of me , only use high quality tools with these tiny M4's. Got lucky and managed to get it out with a torx-bit hammered in. Switched to a proper hardened Allen key, rest came out fine and undamaged . Owned this little Allen set for 20+ years , never let me down where the cheapo's destroyed bolts.
Got my AFR gauge today (Innovate MTX-L). Ready to rock’n’roll as soon as I am done putting the bike back together. That is being slightly delayed as one of the intake manifolds studs snapped on me this morning. I was able to extract it with a pair of wise grip but had to order replacements...
Took the 899 up to M&S motorcycles in Newcastle today for a quick bleed ( brakes and clutch) just for a refresh, parked out the back next to a tasty Kwakker H2… The place was totally locked up as there’s only a few staff in , so I had to do the secret masons knock on the door and show my left nipple before they would let me in… Still not a bad collection of bikes and gear… And this V4 S Speciale looks quite tidy, anyone’s on here?? Had a wander up the street for a coffee while I waited for the bike,…pretty sobering and depressing tbh nothing but dodgy cheap pizza and kebab shops, hence Westgate roads new nickname..” Salmonella alley” ! I can remember back in the day, about 30 years ago, “the Hill” was heaving with bike shops and you could spend all day up there watching the local nutters hoiking great big wheelies up and down the hill, it’s unrecognisable now compared to those days An hour later, bike finished and far too fast back home down the A1,….bloody hate motorways, no patience with “ Dozy Doris” sat in the outside lane for miles doing 62 mph !
Charged up my phone charger battery pack, airbag vest and Packtalk, fitted Kreiga straps and US10 to the seat of the scrambler, and checked tyre pressures in readiness for an all day adventure planned for tomorrow. The Kreiga fitment will also do for a weekend away with the boys at the end of the month in Wales
Loaded my trackbike onto the trailer for Brands tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing @Dibble ’s adidas paintjob.
Not so small……been on an adventure with my pal Martin and his dad John around Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. We even called in at Ravenseat farm (of Yorkshire Shepherdess fame). Didn’t see the lovely Amanda but did have a coffee served by their eldest daughter, Raven. This was today’s route, all 210 miles of it
Finally got the top fairing on the 749, it’s like playing a cruel game of Twister you need to be a f****ng trained Octopus. Getting ready for tomorrow’s hon, didn’t get chance to scrub my tyres in…..hope it doesn’t rain in Wales.
The clutch on 998 was dead the other day when wanting a rideout ( leaking on the seal? ), so bleed that as i was loading up the van with tools today.
We only briefly rode in Wales we mostly rode the county of Shropshire. Started to put the fairing back on the 749, well nuts or clips to hold both sides together under the engine.
