El T, saw your mob coming up the Settle road near Pen Y Gent at about 11:00 am this morning, we were going the opposite way, red BMW XR 1000 first, then me on the black / grey Ninja, about seven of us all together. Now based in Newtown Powys for 4 nights, weather is awesome!!
Mended the horn on my M1100. Needed a new one but had a spare in my trackday bike box of bits. Realised it's the first thing that's actually broken on it in 10 years.
That was the DOCGB West Yorkshire branch (minus me cos I was in Wales) heading to Hawes to meet the North Yorkshire branch. Today we came home, having done the Devils Staircase near Beulah and also the A483 which must rank in the top 3 of Britain’s road if it’s not th3 best biking road! Did a total of 697 miles over the weekend. And it was fantastic (except for the hotels we used which, despite being far from cheap, we’re shite!)
Big day today, rode from Pau to Rippol in Spain obver the Pyrenees, fantastic views but absolutely knackered
Today we had a short(ish) ride to the seaside in Loretta Der Mar. When we parked up my Mate Andy realised his Tank Bag wasn’t a n his bike, he’d left it in a petrol pump in Ripoll, with his Passport in it!!!!! Long story short, tank bag not handed in so Police involved (after their coffee break) so we will see what needs to be done. Night mare! At least it was hot and sunny but that’s not much fun dressed in leather
A fresh set of rubber fitted to the Multistrada OE wheels, ready for 5 days touring Wales next week. Just got to remove the 950SP wheels currently fitted but that’s for tomorrow. Andy
Took the Tiger out for an 80 mile blast , pass Castle Combe , Kemble , Tetbury , Petty France , then home .
Fitted a new battery to the R6 in preparation for Almeria. Tried to fire the bike up after it has been standing in the dining room for the last year and ...... the starter solenoid began to overheat and it needed to be giggled to make it work. The wiring looks like spaghetti junction and all of a sudden, no power to the fuel pump. Got stressed, sweated a lot, got more stressed. FI ! I gave up and dropped the bike off at a local bike shop we use to service it to get them to fix it Andy
Swapped the wheels on the Multistrada over in preparation for Wales next week. Should have been straight forward but the caliper bolts rolled off my portable work table and could I find the fourth one ? Could I buggery How far could an M10 x 55 bolt bounce FFS ? Finally gave up and found a spare in the V4 drawer. Started to pack up and was folding the work table away and just caught a glimpse of a glint at the bottom of a pocket in a canvas lining on the side of the table. How the bolt landed in a pocket, mm perfect size for size, I’ll never know, you couldn’t repeat the feat if you tried for a week. Still, job done and the Multistrada is sporting a brand new set of Metzeler Roadtec 01SE’s. Andy
