(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

We rode up to the Saddleback Farm shop and cafe for a hot drink and a bacon and chipolata sausage bap. Left for the ride back via Wantage, loaded up with a variety of local and artisan cheeses and some rib eye steaks that will probably be cooked for tea tonight. Lovely day, if a bit chilly but in our neck of the woods, busy with walkers, cyclists and cars on every road we travelled. Not many bikes out though. Andy

 

Fitted an £80 needle bearing into a gearbox shaft without damaging it. Which is result...

 

Out with the UKMOC crew in Lancashire,Met at Brandreth barn, Rufford then headed to Rivington….rammed…did a loop back Standish,Chorley. Now getting warm with a brew ,

 

I might have to check that out, as I’m over that way regularly.

 

Dug these out to see why Hermann (R1200S) was bogging a bit off the line. Last time I used them was for my carby 900SS in about 2000! Hopefully the weather gods will let me test my tweaking this week...

 

The cafe does a good breakfast and lunch and the farm shop, whilst expensive, does some high quality, local meats and cheeses. The rib eye tonight was delish. Andy

 

Fitted new chain a sprockets to my Multistrada 1260 on Saturday. 14/40 so shorter gearing. Run out with one of my groups to Ludlow today, works really well for A/B road. Might be a bit short for sustained motorway riding in so much as 6th no longer redundant for regular roads. Will give that a try on the way to a service on Thursday and see how it goes. Try and avoid motorways where possible so not really an issue.

Also fitted a Danali SoundBomb Mini horn in place of the truly pathetic OEM one, a big improvement. Straight swap in respect of plugging in but had to bend the bracket to make it fit behind the lower edge of the radiator as it's quite a bit deeper.

 

Good to know. I am partial to a breakfast ride out, as long as there’s black pudding.

 

If my memory serves, as both black and white puddings are on sale in the shop, I’d say yes. Andy

Fitted EvoTech GPS mount and radiator guards to my Multi V4s. Slightly dubious detail or lack of in the destructions probably slowed the install a little but it wasn't particularly difficult or fiddly once the panels were detached . The destructions didn't advise any thread lock but looking at where the bolts go I used blue thread lock on them to hopefully dissuade them from rattling out into the undergrowth. I also opted for the lower top clamp GPS mount (for an Garmin XT) as I didn't want that swinging about on the screen mounts given I'd experienced cracked stuff from similar up high mounting positions on previous bikes

 

Just spaffed several pounds (is what i told the wife) on Upmap T800+

 

I wouldn’t call that a small bike thing. Looks like a serious job well done with a Halfords tool kit by the look of it. Respec!

At least I know who to get in touch when my engine needs a small crankshaft replacement.

Halfords tools are remarkably good value. Anything else I need for major work I buy as a one off. Think my allen keys cost £30 but have never rounded or snapped.
My problem is lack of space, I'm actually working underneath my rgv as I have nowhere else to go

 

Bike's in for a service, and having the spotlights I bought off a member on here enabled, at Ducati Worcester today. Taking a Multistrada V4s out for a few hours in the mean time.
