  1. Good luck on the recovery, been there done that myself over the last year and a half... if they say 'you wont be able to do that again', you will. Determination to prove em wrong works wonders for me. p.s. 6-8 months down the line when the body starts to heal & things start to mend, if the head starts to 'wander' go see your GP.

  2. Was about to ask how you were doing but you answered that

  3. Get well soon Jon, If i'm up your way with work i'll pop in for a chat. (not sure were you live now mate send me a pm)

  4. shit sorry to hear this  , hope your ok with everything else ,like paying the mortgage and general funds for day to day stuff ,I can send you a tin of beans mate. :upyeah:
    All the best Pete.

  5. Slight update from me, back in the hospital yesterday at the fracture clinic and after 4 hours it looks like everything is healing up nicely but there's another 4 weeks in casts yet, new casts yesterday too which seem to make moving around easier. My back pain seems to have in the main settled down but my ribs are killing me at the moment.

Later that day I headed off to phsyio for my first session/assessment, maybe that's a bit premature but I've got to get my upper body moving and address my back and shoulder, so we have a game plan on that one and then the legs so I'm feeling happy with that.

First set of casts when I was in A&E

    Obviously had to be red

    New casts, new colour yesterday

Also had a call from the insurance yesterday and the multi has been written off down as a cat B, plus what they've offered me seems bang in-line with what they're up for on bike trader etc but I'm going to call a few dealers and check before I accept the offer so that could be out of the way in the next week. Money in the bank ready for the 2013 model I guess.

You can understand why it's been written off

finally thanks to everyone for the texts, calls, visits, offers of help it's quite humbling... Thanks

  6. Good luck fella :upyeah:

  7. Get well soon mate....Hope the pay out helps, even a little.

  8. Bloody hell, that looks awful, sorry to hear of your injuries but hope the recovery/rehab is going well. Just glad you're able to keep posting and positive enough to look forward to the next bike and next year. Good luck and keep us updated.

  9. Pix of bike look truly frightening.
Glad you're still here to tell us about it!

Amazing thing, the self-regenerating human body. Bet it will all be distant memory in a few years. Keep us posted and good luck!

  10. Ouch!! Hope you're well on the mend.

  11. Get well soon mate, you're the important one, no matter how attached we are to our bikes they're just metal and plastic and can be fixed or replaced! Are those Alpinestar GP Pro gloves in the picture? I've got a pair, I'd be interested in how they stood up to the crash?

  12. Thanks!

Im on my 2nd pair of these now plus I had a pair of the GP tech's also, all have stood up well the first two pairs had more than their fair share of incidents when I was racing and this new pair in the photo barely took any damage thus why I keep buying them.

To be fair all of my gear (Astar GP tech boots, Astar leathers) have barely a mark on them but it was a slow speed accident and wet, my helmet arai tour-x didn't fair too well but it saved my head, job done!

  13. Well a major milestone completed this morning, finally had both casts removed and the consultant seems really pleased with the recovery, looks like my knee ligaments are ok after the tears but both my knee and ankle is stiff, I've been advised to walk on my crutches for 4 weeks then a single crutch for a further 4 weeks, plus no driving for 4 weeks.

Im confident I can get fitter, stronger sooner than they says though. To add to that on the way home I went straight to my physio to collect their CPM machine to get my knee moving, if you're wondering what a CPM machine is have a look here Continuous passive motion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    And for your viewing pleasure

  14. Nice socks

  15. Fantastic progress Jon!

But I'm afraid you missed the Olympics, fella.

  16. That CPM thing looks like some kind of S&M device. (I guess)

  17. Great news Jon. When are you starting to weight-bare?

After I had both my tib nails out, it was as if I had to learn to walk again. So painful, as both legs weren't being used.

I had the rods put in, because the consultant didn't want my ankles to seize up with casts.

Stick with the physio advice and do your stretches. It will all come good in the end.
    Andy

  18. I can weight bare now so already mobile so small steps as they say

  19. When I had my prang the wastage (one leg) was shocking, I kept walking around in circles

Just do as the pretty physio lady says mate...:upyeah:

  20. Great news that you're on the mend, with you're determination I'm sure you'll be fully fit far sooner than they say! Good luck and keep the posts coming
