Had a Speed Triple for 5 years before trading it in for an 848. Wish I 'd had the space to have both, love my 848 but the Speedy was sufficiently different
Quite a change, I had a 2008 CBR600RR which was pretty much identical, it rode well but just had no character.
I came from a Daytona 675 to my 848 and can say that it took some time to get used too! the Hinckley Triples are smoother than ANY Ducati will ever be, but even the 848 has better throttle connection from closed/open at low speeds than the Triumph. I imagine the 899 is even better again in this respect.
Yes +1! Yes Phil, no character whatsoever! (a whiny engine that gets on your nerves and needs to be worked so hard in order to get some decent horsepower out of it!) For sure the 600 CBR does it's job fairly well it is very reliable and nimble in town, but! standing next to a 899 Panigale in full whack it stands not even the slightest of a chance - the 899 is just 1 - 2 generations ahead of it's competition - mind you I will stick my neck out here and say that the 899 has no direct competition out there right now at this precise moment! I mean, all the electronic aids one could wish for, a torque engine and a superior chassis and suspension, it's an all round fantastic package and not too expensive either! Like I had already mentioned before not that Japanese bikes are no good altogether, of course they are, it's just that the Italian engineers have put the measuring rod so high at this time it will be a very difficult job for other manufacturers to try and gain back this mid-weight world championship bike crown! Sorry for late reply just back from holidays I bought these MINI ARROW MOTORBIKE MOTORCYCLE INDICATORS black LED | eBay and yes had to cut wires and solder in some resistors.
So people will stop calling their bikes Daisy now and just call them "Clitoris"..........cos every cunts got one :smile: I'll get me coat.
