Ebola kills the host too quickly to spread far The period of time when you are contagious but symptom free and able to move around is very low so if you have it you will almost certainly die an agonising death but if you have it the chances of passing it on are very low as once you have symptoms you aren’t about to go anywhere
timing has never been my good point.. My Sister and her husband tested positive for Covid on Monday, apparently he picked it up from his workplace where they found 7 people positive, he has what he calls a heavy cold like symptoms while my Sisters symptoms got worse, she was told to go to hospital by 101, she did so and sat alone in a room for 6 hrs only to be told to go back home, yesterday she was admitted to hospital and we were told she has covid and phenomena, tonight we were updated saying she was on max oxygen and was still struggling to breath so they had taken the decision to admit her to ICU and placed on a respirator. She’s in the same ICU ward that i was on but a few months ago, she’s 61 with 2 kids and 3 Grandchildren.. X
This has really brought it home with a bump, she’s the last family member i have sibling wise and had not previously heard of anyone we knew to catch Covid-19 and wham bam Bev and her husband Keith have it.. Again the worst thing i guess is no one can see her at hospital etc i so feel for her kids etc.. Her Husband K is beside himself because he caught it at work and brought it home to her. While he’s very mild symptoms she’s fighting for her life... Thank you for your kind messages etc X
I know a friends son, in his mid 20's who thought the same and ignored the Covid rules .... he's now tested positive and is in a very bad way, he's never been this ill in his life. He's struggling to breath 24/7 ..... He's not laughing about the Covid rules now. I'm not gloating, just stating the facts.
Extremely rare. Going by the numbers, and not knowing a single sole who's become ill with it, I'll take my chances. I'm not laughing either btw. It's just I'm not afraid either. Not one bit....
I'm not really concerned about the people who have no concern for themselves. We are always going to have those. What does concern me is that they in this It's not about you, it's about the number of people you are going to infect who are scared or are in a high risk group before you even know you have it.
Who knows when an effective vaccine will be available for those that want/need it. In the meantime I would urge everyone not to take any chances with this virus.After effects like Long Covid are one of the effects being felt by many people,including young and previously fit people. You would not wish Long Covid on anyone.
As a matter of fact I’m in a ‘high risk’ group. But I don’t care. I’m not frightened. Faced much, much scarier stuff in my life. What the lockdown fanatics need to hoist on board is that most people are sick to the back teeth of this shite. Let it rip I say.
Guessing I & plenty of other posters have taken way more dangerous drugs & risks in there lives than a possible half arsed vaccine shot. A bit of 'Dunkirk Spirit' is needed now, the genie is out the bottle now & hiding under our beds in lockdown every few months is not the way forward. We need to learn to live with this virus, whilst still continuing with human life.
As a few more months could prove to be the difference between life and death for many I personally am prepared to suck it up.
I'm more worried the financial, emotional, missed healthcare emergencies etc will kill way more than any virus. But if they decided to lockdown I'll suck it up, the NHS cannot be allowed to be totally swamped by this.
Alas it’s become about the less than 1% of society at the serious detriment of more than 50% of society. We don’t look after old people normally, so why start now?! We give the, shite care, in over-charging ‘prisons’ and families ditch the, at the first sign of problems. Covid isn’t the issue: how we generally treat old people and how we now expect everyone to recovery from every ailment is IMO
What about those who die because ‘you’re’ (all of are having to) sucking it up? 1/3rd of all lung cancer patients have died this year, most of whom wouldn’t normally,lly I’m modern times according to a re-Orr even haunt commented on this week, and how many have died or will die because they either can’t or wing leave them home or don’t want to ‘overload the nhs’? it’s like removing a limb because you have an in rowing toenail
Hi Bradders, I've read some of these anecdotal stories too, but I've never come across one that has any real evidence to back up the vague claims. If there were a much higher incidence of death from lung cancer, the figures that support this fact would need to be compiled to prove it. Surely they would be published and available; but AFAIK there are none. Do you have a link? Thirty percent of lung cancer patients is potentially a massive number of additional deaths. I do read occasionally that a certain doctor somewhere in the world or maybe the UK has some concerns about possible outcomes in future years. However these articles in no way to my mind come close to the weight of all the other doctors who support social restrictions. Still I am open minded, and if I can be shown the evidence I will certainly read it and perhaps support a different course of action.
