  4. Done the Orange thing, the GT did not like bumpy roads. The comfort seat was...torture. Engine good but power band not as big as you would expect. Later GTs supposed to be improved for suspension, which for me only worked on super smooth roads.

  5. ...add in silly size back wheel nut...

  6. Yeah Marco, what have you got to say about that...????

  7. I don't wanna hijack this fabulous Massey thread, but MK1 GT no comparison to MK2 and silly size wheel nut rectified for 40 quid, buy a socket !! :)

  8. Glad to hear mk2 sorted, plenty potential there.
Wheel socket, torque wrench..things I can do without finding space for on a trip though.
One of the disadvantages of the Multi too. Chain stretch on mine was ridiculous. So was finding the Ducati tool not much use for chain adjustment in the middle of the Dolomites.

  9. Thats cause the OEM chains on Ducati's are utter shit !! Swap out for a decent one as soon as, problem sorted.

  10. I still had to carry cans of chain lube when i toured on my mutley, no hassle really

  11. Starts to bulk up if trying to keep weight and content down. Socket. Wrench. Lube.
Spoiled now by not needing them for several trips.
Form over function though with single sided swing arms.

  12. PMSL, Weight down ?? On one of those fecking Bavarian Panzer Tanks ?? They weigh the same as one of the Moon's of Jupiter !!! :D:p

  13. Went there with the thought of going back to my youth and swapping the Ducati for an R1250RS. Spent about an hour in the showroom waiting for a salesman to talk to, but walked away in the end. No wonder CW in Dorchester went down the pan.
When I said back to my youth, I bought a brand new BMW when I was 18, it was only in my 50s that I moved to Ducati.

  14. They are not light weight!o_O
Have to say that when loaded plus passenger, the Multi was more of a handful at slow speeds than the standard GS though.

  15. Not yet for me either...but I have test ridden a R1200RS and quite liked it o_O
Bizarrely and probably quite irrationally, the two things that put me off the GS and RS is the asymmetrical headlights and the lack of illuminated switchgear; they've finally sorted one of these issues on the RS!

  16. LMAO, I was certainly not down there looking for a Bavarian tank !! I swung by cause a mate works there but it was shut that day. Old, young, can't move, fucked back, fucked knees !! All of this makes no difference. Satan will go to work on ice skates before I swing a leg over one of those codger carriers !!

  17. I think I technically qualify as a codger, but I seem to be going the wrong way as far as bikes are concerned - most recently from a Tiger to Multistrada to Diavel and SDR...maybe I'm just in denial :scream: (and before you ask, long past any mid-life crisis)

  19. I never owned one as an only bike I always had a bit of excitement in the garage but in the real world on Irish roads the big aul panzer ate yumbs and bumbs but they are as germanic as a machine can be !!

  20. The std tyres on mine were at the edges in about 100 miles. Easy to ride long sweepers and better than a multi in flip Flops turns imho as it shakes less. But it does take more effort!!

By time I ride again I’ll be lucky if I only have 2” strip son the sides : unamused:
