  6. Marine Engineer by trade - 32 years ( and counting ) serving in the RN.
Have worked in electrical and mechanical engineering, opertaion and maintenance, at sea and ashore...
Spent four years teaching marine safety, fire-fighting and damage control.

Currently splitting my time between my current employment ( providing work placements for engineering personnel landed from ships for welfare or medical reasons ) and attempting to find a job for myself when the RN throw me out for being too old at the end of this year.

Anyone want to employ a 50-year-old marine engineer with instructional experience ?
No ? Oh well, just thought I'd ask...

  15. Administrator for a firm of financial advisers - up to my neck in end of tax year last minute pension and ISA forms at the moment.

Trained as a barrister and used to be a legal adviser in the civil service, but got fed up with the law, politicians, working long hours and commuting into London so got out last year.

Took a huge pay cut but now I have a lot less stress, shorter working days, no slogging into London on the train and get to ride my Monster every day to work. :)

  16. 38 years as a Sound Engineer. Started with Virgin Records when i left school at 16 as a "gofor". Left them 6 years latter as a qualified Sound Engineer.
Have my own studio now, but 90% of my work is still "Live" work with bands and solo performers. Do stadium work as well as festivals, even very small gigs sometimes.
Wouldn't change it for anything, 38 years of fun and working the most talented musicians around.
