  3. A couple of years back I had one straight on the visor wearing a Schubert that made a mess of my nose. I just saw it coming and just looked down. It was hell of a bang and an instant headache

  6. Went to the theatre with Mrs Mervyn to see Communicating Doors at the Chocolate Factory in Southwark,it was very good.I don't think I could live in London though, the people here are very different. They all seem to have a small device permanently fixed to their hands which they operate continually with their thumbs. It seems to be some form of life support system.

  7. Ouch, I once had a sparrow hit my helmet, I was doing about 60 at the time, it hurt and my neck hurt for a few days afterwards goodness know what a pigeon feel like!

  8. Today we travelled to Twickenham full of expectation. Unfortunately the Bath who dispatched Leicester last weekend didn't make much of an appearance. Hmmmm, oh well, still a good day out.

  9. Took the evo for a little spin. Ah man its a lovely bike.

  10. Picked up the new bike today and had a great ride home. Only 500 miles until first service. Shame I only had a short amount of time as I had to get home to look after little one.

  11. I'm an expert on nothing, but from a layman's point of view, (we hired the 2014 model last year), the 2015 shape is gorgeous, and it now has Bluetooth, reversing camera, steering wheel controls (other than steering), key-less entry, stacked rear and front lights and usb connections.

The soft top raises and lowers much quicker than last years model, with only one twist handle to secure it. My wife finds that the passenger seat still isn't height adjustable and access to the rear seats is awful - you have to lift the front seat lever and it doesn't return to the original seat setting when you've finished.

The alarm has gone off several times when stood next to it but I'm probably pressing a wrong fob button. Still, it's returning 28mpg and gas is $2-75 ish so that's an improvement on last year's 24mpg.
Below is a pic outside the "Breaking Bad" car wash in Albuquerque.

  19. There are times when the whole day is building to dinner…
    I was not disappointed.
Watered some plants (quite a lot of plants) and then watched Moto3 and Moto2. Before Moto GP, took my wheelbarrow down to the edge of the woods where they have been cutting up firewood. Filled it with useful twigs for my mangetout peas, and offcuts for lighting BBQs. Watched the final race.
Actually managed to spend a couple of hours in the sun reading Laurie Lee until I dropped off, then aperitif and dinner.
Dinner was cold monkfish in mayonnaise (a blinding recipe – you cook the monkfish the day before in a court-bouillon) with a mixed salad of lettuce and some spinach from the garden. Washed down by a medal-winning local white wine (twice what I usually pay). Then on to a cheese platter with a Swiss award-winning Syrah. All the while admiring the spectacular view and the blue tits flying into my bird box (the young must surely be about to leave the nest – it’s been 3 weeks now), not to mention the starlings and crows tucking in to my cherry tree, the kites, wagtails, gulls and assorted other birds.

A beautiful hot day (about time it rained, to be honest). If you’re not happy on a day like today, you’re just a miserable git and there is no hope for you. Time for an early bed as tomorrow promises to be brilliant too (I can feel a BBQ coming on).
