Have just nicked myself with a knife (which I sharpened yesterday) cutting melon. It's the same thumb I cut earlier in the day with the pruning saw. I'm a health and safety failure.
Every time I do this I always think of the teacher I had for "craft" at primary school whose catchphrase was "if the knife slips where will he [sic| go?" I was actually thinking of this before I cut my thumb with the pruning saw.
I have pruned the shrubs on my drive. A job I hate doing as I don't think I do it very well, and I end up with a couple of hours of stuff to feed into the mulcher. Swam the mile and posted my best time of the season (apart from the time I wore a wetsuit - which is cheating). Still not exactly a triathlon time. Made and ate a truffle tortilla. The onions and potatoes came from the veggie patch, the eggs from the next door neighbour, the truffle was local. I'd fancy looking for truffles, but I don't have a truffle dog. In fact, I no longer have a dog at all. It's about exactly a year ago that I had the final interview with the vet.
