  7. Had a bit of retail theapy, the Ducati large sports bag I ordered a month ago arrived. Now got his and hers travel bags for our leathers, boots and helmets for track days. Also spoke with Sarah at Ducati and confirmed we are expected at the hospitality tent for the final weekend of the BSB at Brands in a fortnight. Whilst I wish Josh Brooks all the best this weekend, I really hope Shakey does enough to take it the last 3 races. Andy

  15. Put reg rec on the FZR, 12.8v engine off, 13.9v at idle and 14.2v when revving. It also no longer blows the 30a fuse when revved over 3000 rpm, so success.

I've never seen a reg rec fail in this way before, you learn something every day. When testing with a multi meter I found there was an open circuit to earth. Initially the fuse would only pop when the engine revved, then eventually the fault transferred to being a permanent short. Disconnect the old reg rec and the bike would run fine, other than not charging. Checking the reg rec revealed a direct short between the positive pin which feeds power to the 30a fuse, and the body of the reg rec.

I tested the new reg rec for continuity between the pins and body, and of course there was none. Fitted the new reg rec and all is well. It also appears that the old unit was not for an FZR as the heat sink plate had been re drilled to accept it.

Every day is a school day.

  16. First go with expand foam. Mesy stuff. Cleaned some bits up before putting them in to storage. Never used Gunk before, very impressed.
