It reminds me of my childhood, the ice cream van - witches hats, oysters and jubblys! When it was safe for kids to play in the streets - reminds me of a Lowry or is it Lowrie but my era.I would have bought it on the spot
Got my bike serviced and had 2 new tyres. Rode for an hour in the cold and rain, waited for 3 hours, punctuated by a cup of tea and a bacon, sausage and egg bap. Then had £525 taken off me, rode home.....in the cold and rain. Spent 2 hours cleaning the mess that the bike had become.
My dad had an ice cream business and I was brought up in Middlesbrough, which was known for its heavy industry including steel works and ship building on the Tees (my dad worked in the steel industry before starting his ice cream business). I knew the people in the painting. I saw those ships being built. I saw those cranes and bridges every day when I was growing up. Chris Rea (who I knew, back in the day as his twin brothers were two of my best friends) has written a few songs about the area. Every word means something to me. The painting just brought it all back. That's why I had to have it despite the cost.
Watched bsb quali And cleaned the panigale - again! Even on a dry day I find dirt and crap gets everywhere
Cold. Damp. Did almost nothing. Lost about £50 on the National, but my William Hill account had £46 in it which I won last year, so the amusement only cost me a fiver. Actually, my mother is responsible for half the losses. She backs a couple of horses every year and I put the bets on for her. Even if we'd won £100, I'd probably have just left it in the account to pay for next year's betting. It's the only thing we ever bet on.
Memories are what it's all about but how times change? An ice cream guy the hoodies around here always called Mr Spliffy - I thought probably cos he liked the odd joint? Has just been nicked for sticking puff in a cone and ice cream on top and serving his puff heads @ £20 a cone! Now I've heard it all
Nice push bike ride up to the top of hartside cafe. Greeted by a car park full of motorbikes, instant regret of my choice of bike for my ride out
I spent a good couple of hours messing with the 899. I tried the 46t sprocket that SimmyTT kindly gave me but with the stock chain u can't get enough adjustment, with the axle right forward in the swingarm the chain is still super tight! So had to change back, this is the difference that two teeth make to the chain length... Oh well! Was a good opportunity to clean the bike up and clean the chain etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wandered down to Ladbrokes and done £50 in random tricasts and £1 each ways on the rank outsiders.. got my money back on Vics Canvas as they were doubling ya stake on each ways. so close to a tricast too I was!!! that's probably my betting on horses done for the year as well...
You know those brackets i made and painted?... FAIL! Just doing them again after taking all the old paint off and using primer, this direct to metal paint seems to need the help.
Took the CBR to an open day at the local Honda bike dealer earlier, just been sorting out screws and tidying the man cave. [emoji41]
