  4. Trying my hand at a bit of time lapse photography - was going to go down to Beaulieu and try and capture the tide going out, but couldn't be bothered. I think the trick is to find somewhere where you can sit in the car - it was quite cold after an hour and a half.

  5. Love the painting El T. Buying art from the heart is the way to go.

Pleased for you that you bought it on the spot and didn't hesitate about it.

  8. Beginning to not love my 1098R. So I'm used to having to take the front calipers off to remove the wheel but who in their right mind designs a front brake caliper set up where you can't remove one caliper without having to undo and remove the banjo bolt ? The job for this morning was supposed to be simple, suck all the brake fluid out of the brake reservoir, take the front calipers off and then release the brake lines so fluid doesn't go anywhere near the body work or wheels. Oh no, the right hand caliper with the double banjo didn't give any wiggle room to take the caliper off. Result ? Fffing brake fluid all over the wheel despite all the care I took to wrap every joint in absorbant material. Having sausage sized fingers doesn't help either. New race style individual brake lines are in place now, just got to tighten them up and bleed the system through. Fitting the Oberon clutch slave cylinder took no time by comparison. Still, time for a coffee and a biscuit before I crack on. Andy

  9. Does the R have bigger discs? Different wheels too, I guess. Don't have any trouble with the double banjo on the SF which is the same as the 1098 SBK. It is tight though. I always have to wrap the caliper in a soft cloth and apply an unnerving amount of pressure against piston and disc before the caliper clears the rim.

  10. Nice little blast over to Sywell Aerodrome on the SS with a mate [emoji41][IMG]

  11. Well after fitting the new spotlight brackets and giving the bike a quick wipe over with quick detailer I headed out to a charity bike show in Goole, not far really, Squires on the way back made it an 80 ish mile round trip to see how the bike ran with it's new exhaust without the baffle.

Its smoother at low revs but has gained some vibration through the bars, and the noise, oh the noise... Its like Brian Blessed with a point to make, it booms like a big twin should, I love it.

Now fully run in and receiving the berries..
Went down to West Bay and as there wasn't much traffic about took the coast road. For the first time in ages had the steep hill coming out of Abbotsbury to myself so thought I'd give it a fistful and try out my hill-climb technique.

Feck me...!:Wideyed: Good job the TC was on....:Wideyed::Wideyed:

  14. I didn't ride today despite the weather being glorious. Instead we went to Temple Newsam and had a picnic with sons, wives and grandchildren.

I spent most of the afternoon playing tag. :D

  15. Played golf yesterday and walked off on the 14th after someone insinuated we pushed in on the 1st tee, it's a game of golf ffs, so after a few choice words, I went home. Can't be bothered arguing, I'm there to relax, not argue. Why do some people feel the need to go out of their way to piss off others! These people are everywhere, unfortunately I seem to keep meeting them.

Today, cleaned the GS ready for it's 6k service, not bad mileage in 6 months, unfortunately mostly wintery commuter riding. It's a great bike, does everything I need and I still like riding it, commuting or otherwise. Drove to work on Friday and hated it. There is some pleasure riding in all weather, the appreciation of a dry road, the respect for frosty and fog covered mornings and the car that gives a little more road than needed to let you filter, the diesel spills, the soil covered roads but, that's all part of it, it's a boring journey, made interesting by being on 2 wheels.

Oh and wifey is still trying to get me to go to Australia, in May! We're only bloody back from holiday.

  16. Yesterday had a tough PiLates session, yes it can be knackering. Today took the pushbike down to the levels and rode 34 miles, half into a stiff wind, was knackered at the end. After walking the dog am now on sofa and wondering if I be able to move tomorrow.

  17. Had some bloody terrible news this morning! The phone call that nobody ever wants to recieve - A friend of mine (I'm not gonna put his name on here just in case some family members haven't been informed?) on a lads night out locally last night got into some sort of argument with a local youth in a club and it spilled outside.By all accounts he took a savage beating from the thug and not content with that he stamped on his head and face before "glassing" my mate.He is in a bad way in a specialist eye Hospital now and I pray the specialist eye surgeon has got it wrong but they are saying he will probably lose his eye?I don't really do the God bit but tonight before I climb into my pit I'm gonna kneel down and say a prayer for him.WTF is going on in our lovely country when you can't have a night out with friends anymore without someone's life irreparably changed by some bloody idiot?

  18. Shit mate, hate stuff like this, so bloody pointless. Hope he mends OK. Thoughts with you all.

  20. Very sorry to hear that. I must say I've never done the whole nightclub/drinking/going down town thing and so glad too... Always been on bikes. I hope whatever his prognosis it sees a positive conclusion.
