So what have you done today..?

  1. Its also one of the most treatable cancers. With early diagnosis the prognosis is extremely positive. The cure rate is almost 100% with early stage treatment.
Its the prospect of the examination most men shrink from and that is the problem. Maybe there needs to be procedural and cultural changes to conducting and thinking about prostate examinations so they become as routine for men over 40 as blood pressure tests.

  2. Listen up guys
Willies and balls are to be looked after
They come in all shapes and sizes and doctors have seen them all
Doctors don't decide which ones are to qualify for examinations
If you have any concerns about these parts please please please talk to your doctors ask for a male one of you don't want a female and I'm sure female doctors have all experienced the little ups that may happen it's all in the job

Don't wait if your feeling unsure get that appointment booked and give yourself the best chance for success

  3. As men get older, the prostate gland gradually enlarges and this causes us to have to pee more often, especially noticeable in the night-time. This is commonplace, and is NOT CANCER. Any GP can prescribe tablets to ease this a bit e.g. Tamsulosin. If it gets worse, you might be offered a simple operation to open out the urethra a bit.

It is also possible for some of the tissue in the prostate to become cancerous, i.e. turn into an adenocarcinoma. This may develop very slowly over many years. Most likely there will be no symptoms. If a doctor feels the prostate directly via the rectum, he might be able to feel a hard lump, but only if the lump is in the lower part of the gland. This method would not detect a lump in the upper part, and a cancer might not manifest as a lump at all. Since this method is quick, cheap, painless, and simple it is always worth a shot.

There is a blood test for the levels of PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) in the blood. If the PSA level is not elevated, you have nothing to worry about. If it is elevated, that suggests further investigations would be worthwhile (e.g. scans, biopsies). If it is elevated a lot, that signifies a serious problem. It is no use taking a drug to reduce PSA levels - that conceals the problem without solving it.

If prostate cancer is detected, it might be at such a low level, and so slow to develop, that it is not necessary to take any action. If it is more developed, it might be necessary to remove it surgically (as in my case) or reduce it by various other methods. In some rare cases it might have spread to surrounding tissues, e.g. the bones of the lower back, which becomes very serious and damaging.

To sum up, go and see your doctor, tell them your symptoms, let them examine you and/or take a blood test, if they think it appropriate. Neither panic nor stick your head in the sand. You might consider donating a few quid to Prostate Cancer UK. And good luck.

  5. Stuck in the paddock at Mallory. Waiting for the gate to open so I can cross the track and get back. That will teach me for trying to be a be the quickest thing round here. I Killed my front pads and discs not long after the first session. Too much front bias. At least the engine seems ok.

Ironically a couple Ducatis turned up for a photo shoot for a magazine. So had a chat with those guys. Took some terrible pics as my phone cam is broken. I don't envy who ever is riding them this afternoon.

  6. Good news that you are all in one piece, why don't you envy them riders?

  7. A joke would have been good with me rather than awkward silence?

  8. Always a good plan to ask a mate rather than see a specialist - I did that and got told by surgeon after emergency operation that my heart would have stopped about 30 minutes after I was admitted if I hadn't of collapsed and been scooped up

  9. making catheters in red and black nowadays? - nice option...

Chris when I noticed the Ducatis it had started to hail.
They were road legal or had show plates, I think it said Ducati UK at the bottom.
Perhaps a 959 non R model and a 1200 Monster if they make them?

I am not good on a bike compared to racers I know, so no I would not want to go out in that weather, on a road bike, with racers as it was a licenced race test day. I was testing a race car in the morning.

Hence did not envy them. I don't really envy anyone anyway. I do the things I want to do. I am happy for other people who are living their dream what ever that might be. A bit of extra cash and less hassle would be nice, but who would not want that :)

  11. Mine were blue and orange, but actually I prefer the red and black as supplied by @Exige .

  12. Would potentially have been quicker in red (and black) as opposed to your Gulf combo. Did they offer a Maclaren silver/ black option?

  13. Well,as I think I mentioned on here I've been looking for a road legal supermoto for a bit of cheap summer fun - nothing too late or trumpy - I think or thought I could get something half decent that had a bit of life left in it for under £2/2500? OMG - I drove to deepest darkest Essex today in my trusty (smokey!) 300,000 + mile Sprinter and I didn't even bother to get out of van! Supermoto??? Not in a bloody fit! Insert the words "field bike" and delete Supermoto and you won't even be close - I did call him and ask where he was getting his weed from cos it's obviously better than A to Z Fred's? What a waste of half a day? Onwards and upwards

  14. Would have been ok with that but it was in a jar

  15. While I was going through a few cupboards and draws this afternoon to clear out accumulated crap before an impending house move I found 6 brand new leg bags (500ml piss bags!) that I was given along with enough bandages and sterile dressings to cover most of Berkshire! I suddenly thought what a bloody waste of money to just sling them in the dustbin? How much money is the NHS haemorrhaging on a monthly basis of they present discharged patients like me with huge medical goody bags? Seems crazy that some poor fukker somewhere in the world is probably crying out for this type of product.Maybe one of you clever engineers out there could make use of them for bleeding brakes or something??? image.jpeg image.jpeg

  19. The items (bags, valves, tubes) which are still sealed in their sterile packaging bags would be potentially usable and you could give or sell them to someone who needs them. There are firms who sell this stuff on eBay and Amazon. They are pretty cheap actually.

Stuff which is used or non-sterile is basically scrap. Nobody would want to risk using it.
