So what have you done today..?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by figaro, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. Very nice - crab sandwiches at Mortehoe?

  2. Said good bye to the car which was collected today.
Workshop is empty and brought my tool box home to start working on the bikes.

Now I have more cash to do things, more time to do things and less hassle.

Going to get the house a bit more sorted. Only lived here for 6 months, the garden is a nightmare to keep tidy. Plan to enjoy this summer, with less stress and hassle.

Looking forward to the forum BBQ and a possible meet at super sauge, if my carbon bits turn up,
I might even be on the bike for one of them.

I have an R6 pre injection road bike to make road legal too.

  3. Before I gave away my big house to my ex Grizzler, the taxman and vat man my mate came up with a great idea? The garden was a bloody nightmare - all overgrown with nettles and weeds etc.It was 280ft long and if I worked on it 24/7 it would still have looked like a jungle.I paid a couple of mates a decent lump to sort and clear it and they did a good job but I didn't have the time, inclination or skill to maintain it properly and 3 months later it was reverting back to nature - and fast.My mate who then worked for the local borough council told me they had a 3/4 year waiting list of keen older local persons who wanted allotments but there weren't enough to go round.I put an advert in local free weekly rag and I was proper swamped with good quality gardening men and women. What I did was split it into 6 plots which still left me half and they could grow whatever they wanted (apart from ganja) and between the 6 of them do my garden and keep it tip top and ship shape.I didn't take money off them but I had a better selection of organic vegetables that Waitrose!

  5. Today I got up early and had my test ride at KTM dealer on RC 8 but I think their RC390 was in workshop with issues so couldn't check if it will do the job for me? They were a bit strange/odd with me when I turned up? I'm nudging 60 not 16! They asked why I didn't arrive on a bike - I was in my mates 1972 Chevrolet 350 V8 pick up truck - not a show truck but smart and tidy all the same - maybe it was the truck or maybe cos old twats don't buy KTM sports bikes? As a car dealer who eventually ended up retailing prestige and top end sports cars I learned very early not to judge affordability on appearance

  6. I managed to go on an adventure today-I did all of 30 miles on my Scrambler. This was a big deal for me as I hadn't ridden my bike since last Sept.I am also on quite a difficult journey with the new medication I started in Feb,but as ever,I try to be as optimistic as possible.:upyeah:

  7. Slowly, slowly catchee monkey chap! I'm off to see my MS Specialist Consultant tomorrow afternoon in the smoke. He is all excited about some clever new drug that proper slows up the debilitating effects of the shitty disease? It's only just on trial at moment and they have to go through all the tests, possible side effects etc but because I'm fairly recently MS diagnosed and still have pretty good mobility and reasonably fit for nudging 60 he says I'm an ideal candidate for the new drug? I said "what have I got to lose? If it makes me feel worse or it comes with nasty side effects I will stop taking it!"Bring it on cos it's gotta be better than what I've seen other MS sufferers who are further down the road than me are going through? If all else fails I will buy a cheap lambretta or Vespa and take the Quadraphenia option

  8. Well done. Did you have fun?

  9. I found out what a grommet is.

  11. I can're describe how much of a boost it gave me getting out on the bike.It took me about an hour to get the bike out of the garage and get geared up.I was also a bit apprehensive at first.I took it carefully and after a while I managed to relax and enjoy my little well known circular route. Was brilliant.

  12. I'm only agreeing the drug trial option because I've heard there are so many strains of MS that no two people can just take the same type or strength of meds and sometimes it can take upto a year for them to find the suitable med for you? I am also Diabetic 1 so all my prescriptions are free.A woman in chemists the other day said to me when I was collecting my 2 carrier bags of pills,Needles, insulin pens, test strips etc - "ooh - aren't you lucky!" I said yeah - I've had a right proper result

  13. Central. Nervous system problems like MS are a real hugger.I know what you mean about there not being one universal drug that fits everybody.

  14. Not entirely sure where we are going, I'm only in charge of getting the bikes ready . Andy

  15. Majical mystery tour Andy.Sounds like great fun.:upyeah:

  16. Excellent. Actually riding along is a piece of cake, isn't it? It's the before and after, the preparation and the putting away, which are a bit more challenging.

Bike reliability becomes more important too. Dealing with a puncture or solving some other problem is all very well if you're fit and healthy, but more of a worry if you're under limitations.

  17. You have summed it up perfectly Peter.Lack of stamina/strength is a big hurdle. It was only yesterday that all the planets seemed to align together in order for me to get the bike out.
A great boost to wellbeing and feel good factor is worth an awful lot.
