Despite my best efforts to slip into retirement without any fuss, my staff organised a presentation for me this morning which about 35 people attended. Sordid tales of past misdemeanours were recounted by people I thought were friends but they were balanced by some very complimentary words about my career. Got a card that several hundred people signed, a few silly nick knacks and a voucher to spend at Moto Rapido. I don't think Wilf actually knows I've got a voucher as Carole still has the cash but I appreciate the thought. So as of 12:00 today I am unemployed without any intention of seeking employment ever again. Only 2 years until my state pension kicks in to supplement the occupational pension I'm drawing so just got to be a little more prudent in my spending for a few months. Andy

i was lying in bed oiling my bike this morning, when i realised i was late for signing on at the jobcentre. Why dont they send somebody round to do this ? it would create a shedload of jobs.
Been enjoying my first day of retirement . Popped over to Image Design to pick up my repainted 1098R Marchesinis wheels (did a nice job ), bimbled done the M3 to Winchester to collect a few bits I'd ordered and try on yet another pair of armoured jeans the importer swore were the right size. Yeah right, even having lost 7kg, the jeans were still too small. Had my lunch and now preparing to disappear into the garage to fit my recently received Exact Start cables to the 1098R. I'm going to like retirement . Andy
I've no idea. I was 63 last week and had decided that enough was enough before Christmas but I had been paying into an occupational pension for 40 years that allowed me to retire at any time after I reached 60. Andy

SWMBO decided to take (very) early retirement 18 months ago and loves it. She always active and doing something interesting. And financially she now nets more by being at home than spending money travelling to/from work together with all the other outgoings associated with being there (fuel, parking, food, tyres, car servicing etc) I'd never thought about retirement till she did it but now I'm ever so slightly jealous. And despite popular opinion I still have another 10 years to go officially. However I have a plan. If I can manage it I may just seriously think about it in 4-5 years time. If not sooner.
