Just about to go out for a dental check up and luckily the phone rang, appointment cancelled, although the dentist is at work they have a duty of care for there patients, someone might slip and injure themselves on the way to the appointment!!!!! Steve
Spend 90 minutes digging out the drive and lane, to the main road, 10 inches of snow, then to be told in work we could all go home LOL, so better go and light the fire...............
Yo! Richmond! That's where I'm from! And that's what I did when I was the lads age.... Some things never change!
It sure is. A bit quiet for an 18 year old looking for some action though. Which is the age I left. I'd move back now though, now that I'm all actioned out and knackered. Still visit regular to see my parents. Is that shot from heading Hudswell way?
Thanks 'I'm closing'. Appreciated. The return journey yesterday was, an experience. What should have taken 4-5 hours took 16 hours. Although I live in London I'm working in the New Forest Hampshire. The funeral was the north end of Cambridgeshire, nearly Lincolnshire. South via Oxford, then the A34 was closed, so M4 to Reading and south to Basingstoke. I got down to Hampshire and stopped at Winchester services. I looked up the weather and road reports and thought' well, it's not sooo bad' because it wasn't. I hate softies not turning up for work with pathetic excuses when they haven't even tried. So I bought sandwiches and 2 bars of chocolate, should have bought water too but didn't. Mistake. I told the girl at the check out desk " I'm going out now, I may be some time' and off I went. The last 1.5 miles on the M27 took 5 hours. The New Forest was stationary. No chance of getting to my destination. It really was a big dump of snow. I thought it was all happening down in Devon and Cornwall and that's all I'd heard on the radio. I even saw a 'Chelsea Tractor' abandoned on the side of the road. I got off the motorway at midnight and turned straight round and went back to London. It was clear there. Got home at 3pm. Bed. Am I going to work in Hampshire today? No. What do you expect, I'm a Southern softy.
So far I've searched for a trapped cat in all my out buildings only to find it on the out on the Sun deck chatting to another cat! So Fed the birds, bird feed, peanuts and fat balls (no tittering)..... and water. Now in the office catching up on emails... mainly deleting them.
Just braved the arctic northern wastelands to collect the wife's prescription, picked some chocolate biscuits up on my way back, still very windy but the snow is slowly thawing thank goodness . Steve
Weather round here hasnt been too bad today. there's signs of a bit of a thaw. But no doubt it'll freeze tonight and cause more havoc. A friend of SWMBO got back into Manchester airport from Boracay yesterday. She eventually made it to Glossop after about 5 hours on the road trying different ways to get back to Barnsley where she lives. But once in Glossop the roads just stopped moving because of the weather conditions. SWMBO has spoken to her this morning and it looks like she’s having to spend a second night in Glossop as the roads all around are all blocked still!
