  1. Male, 50 ish and a pony tail could describe about 40 members but the VFR narrows it down. As I said, I’m not good with names but possibly yes. Andy

  6. Well, for a week now I have been contemplating trying to manually fit my new road tyres to my new wheels, with some trepidation...

I have watched the tie wrap method and the gaffer tape method on You Tube and seen people struggling, while pretending it was easy
I didn't fancy the tie wrap method as it appeared they could potentially cut or nick the tyre - so decided to try the gaffer tape method on the rear wheel tonight.

I squeezed the side walls in and taped in 6 positions - first measuring the inner diameter to see if the diameter changed allowing easier fitment. What actually happened it the tyre was pulled very slightly out of round. With the wheel on the floor I pushed the tyre over the rim with the larger part of the oval going first - no washing up liquid or lubricant used and feck me - 10 seconds and it was on!

Down to Tesco's - smeared a little washing up liquid on the inside of the still exposed rim - air in the tyre and it seated at 55 psi

Job done, easy too - hope the front goes as easy, but that will wait for another day :)

  8. Never heard of that before, looks a handy tip. :upyeah:

Try getting a 12" scooter tyre on, what a b**tard! The smaller tyre just has no give in it.

  9. It was surprisingly easy - once the bead is broken I guess removal will be a little harder threading the tape through but old tyres can be pinched together with large tie wraps which should be easy  a cheap bead breaker (or wooden hash up of one) and a manual balancer and all will be possible in the art of tyre changing me thinks :):upyeah:

  10. Yep, I have levers, bead breaker, valves, valve puller etc and have changed my scooter tyres since new. Maybe about 5 rears and 2 fronts now. I was looking at the balancers in the M&P catalogue the other day, but as I don't need to balance my incey wincey wheels, didn't buy one.

  11. Happy birthday!

  16. Heard the news about the passports made in France, then thought about the French finally having a solution for Calais, I mean, if they make them for us, it would be easy to hand out a couple of thousand a year in Calais isn’t it? Saves money on postage too lol!

After having a coffee with my friend this morning we went to look at the weeping window of poppies at hereford cathedral
Beautiful memorial for local soldiers killed in WW1 :)

The first time poppies have been seen in snow quite poignant as they fought in such weather
