So what have you done today..?

  1. I made a new friend today. I got an email purporting to be from the solicitor's son who is taking over much of the probate work. The solicitor is about 80... The email was so illiterate that I couldn't believe it was genuine, so I pointed this out to the solicitor, saying that I thought he'd had his email account hacked. Seriously, I thought I'd got something from Nigerians, or from people in Bangalore. He said it was genuine and please would I deal with his son. He didn't sound very amused. Gulp. Jesus. His son must be 40 if he's a day. How can it be normal for the legal profession to write "past" when they mean "passed" and to use an infinitive which contains a gerund, viz "to becoming". Pedantic? Moi? I don't think so. I just want to deal with professionals, not half-wits.

  2. Did you take the fairing off or take the whole bike? What did they charge?

  3. Sadly seems to be indicative of the general state of the world in which we live...

I see the same thing almost every day in contracts drafted by so-called professionals who apparently have not even heard of a spell checker.

  4. Looks like me and @bettes are going out for the day on the bikes. This’ll be the first outing for the Panigale this year. :)

  7. I`ve thought long and hard about this kit. I really like the Xerox livery from that era but Ducati didn`t race a yellow Xerox so, it can never be a full on race rep. No problem, the advantage to this is I`ve been able to change a few things to personalize it without worrying about authenticity.
The guy that fitted the kit said it was one of the best looking ones he`d done, the white Xerox panels on the fairing sides has been deepened and raised, (to cover the non removable standard Ducati testastretta 749 stickers) this allows the line of the upper and lower edges to run through to the back of the bike, picking up the lines of the rear number boards really nicely, I hope that makes sense. He also said they would put pictures on their website which is always good to hear.
I`m still a bit unsure about the three stickers on the top of the tank, they seem to just be floating about in space, they may also tie the front and rear design together. The guy said he`d printed them so may as well fit them, I can always remove them if I want.

I took the bike, the only parts they asked to remove when I got there were the screen and the pillion cover. The cost was £200 fitted, the kit alone costs £95 plus p&p. Fitting time was about five hours, maybe a little more. £100 to have a highly skilled craftsman alter and fit this kit to my design was money well spent, if I`d have done it, you would all be looking at a wonky lopsided version of Nora Batty`s stockings.
I would recommend The Image Works, they even have a tea strength chart so all the rookie tea makers get it right.

The highly skilled craftsman in action.

  8. Pedantic, not at all. I try my best with the correct use of English at all times, though obviously not to your standards as I had to google 'gerund'!

  20. Well we had a really good day. It started a bit cold and damp from my house but by the time we had ridden to the A628 to go over the tops to Manchester it was 4C warmer and the roads were dry.

First stop was Ducati Manchester for a mooch and a coffee. However whilst I was there I was offered a ride on the demo Scrambler 1100 Sport before I pick mine up next week. So I had to have a go didn’t I.

Well the bike more than exceeded my expectations. It is a great looking bike, loads of grunt, very quick, comfortable, great handling, flickable and noisy as hell, popping and farting up and down the revs. Sounded lush. I’m glad I have bought one, that’s for sure. Can’t wait for mine next week :)

I may even take it to Italy for WDW in July :)

My Panigale in the background too :)

I did about 25 miles on it, covering all kinds of road types so got a really good idea of what it was like. I even managed to lose @bettes on the way back to the store :p

After that @bettes and I headed over to Squires at Sherburn in Elmet. Weather was beautiful and there were hundreds of bikes/bikers there. Another coffee was had and then we headed home.

Got back around 4.30pm having done 163 miles in total...........cleaned the Panigale and put it away till next time :)

Really good day and good to see @bettes again and to see the fabulous job he’s done to his 998 over the winter too :upyeah:
