So what have you done today..?

  1. Well we went for a look see and the finish and quality of the interior is fantastic. The master bedroom is a tad small but we are used to quite a large one.

    Certainly worth a second thought.

  12. Well first thing this morning I thought we'd make a last ditch attempt to try and get the house we really want with an offer half way between what we offered yesterday and what they said they wanted as a minimum. I'd increased my offer by £7.5k, but they only came back with only a £2k reduction. We were still £5k out. I've walked away. No wonder they've not sold it since it went up for sale last September!

Now got a meeting at lunchtime with the builder of option 2. The house is about 300sqft smaller than option 1 but it is £45k cheaper (similar square footage to what we have though apparently). Build quality looks really good with stuff like German kitchen, granite worktops, Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware, intelligent lighting, under floor heating, remote controlled garage door etc. It has a south facing back garden, and views over the valley. Just a single garage but it'll house my bikes which is the main thing, and there's parking on the drive for prolly 3 cars. Neither option 1 or 2 have much of a garden but that's fine because neither of us are not gardeners, but it will have a nice patio area where SWMBO can stick all her pots around. We would like a few other bits and bobs doing to it so it would be ready to move in so that's why we are going to meet him.

Buying a house whether it's brand new or not is always going to be a compromise. The only downside to this looks like the size of the master bedroom is a tad titchy vs what we've been used to in the last two houses we've had.

    Wish me luck. :)

  17. Well option 2 has bitten the dust too. The bedroom is just too small for a bed and a wardrobe. Back to the drawing board.
