I had a fantastic ride up to Boxhill this afternoon on my Monster! There were barely 20 bikes there, the gorgeous sunshine and warmer weather i left back home was replaced with a chill and overcast skies, but that didn't stop me enjoying every minute of it! A cup of coffee, a read of 'SEB' the free bike mag they have up there, before heading back down the A29 to the south coast. The sun came out again as i reached Whiteways, with a pit-stop at my parents before heading back home this ride goes down as one of the best i've had for a long time(sorry Fazer 600). Monster had impeccable manners today, never missed a beat! It just Purrrred!!!
Been to Squires. Cleaned bike. Picked SWMBO up from the station after she'd been to the Toon on a hen night last night. Now gonna chill before I go to see the Wonderstuff tonight.
Went to work. Had to build the tallest scaffold tower ever to service some a/c units. Now my knees are gone, to go with the dodgy back and tonsillitis. I feel proper old:frown: I'm gonna take the Guzzi out tomorrow and thrash the fkin spuds out of it, just to remind me of what it's like to be young...
Opening the windows to the house for the first time in x months! Clean fresh air running throughout. Bliss. Also getting out on my Trek bike for the first time in 18 months. Only a few miles, but wow it felt good (ignoring the aged and aching legs, bursting lungs and exhaustion)! Still to get the moto sickle out though.
Got up at 10am, blue sky and glorious sun, could well have been a summers day! Getting a bit of hesitation below 6,000rpm, think I need to balance the throttle bodies, it may well be the 2 year old petrol gunk making its way through the system, might change the fuel filter for good measure. Its always the simple things you forget to do, after going round a few roundabouts feeling like I was on a rocking horse/ space hopper hybrid I went to top the tyre pressures up... I had 15 psi in the front and 10 in the rear, quick top up and I had my old bike back! Enquired about a belt change, TPS and Throttle bodies fettling, shim check was quoted a good £500. Prompted me to learn how to do it myself! Had a thought about the oddities of bikers whilst I was sat on the toilet in town with my helmet on as there was no chance I was going to put it down! Forgot how slippy the seat was, forgot how much sliding into the tank squished my balls, forgot how much the vibration makes you need a poop. Overall, a pretty good day, have missed the noise, rumbling along in first just for that exhaust noise reverberating off the buildings in town but most of all I think I've missed the attention of everyone around you. I know its vain but then I think that was half the attraction of the bike in the first place, its just nice to go past people in the street, check the mirrors and realise they're watching the bike go by. Left the bike outside a supermarket whilst I popped in for a drink and found out its the ultimate wingman! Pity they walked off after seeing me... :frown:

Today I found out that a 750SS is no good for taking on a Maserati GranCabrio Sport.......I was alright until I got into 5th. If only I still my ZZR1100........that would have dealt with the issue. AL
Did an 8 mile run ! Bewildered by the amount of data my new watch is picking up ! Suunto Ambit ! Amazing !
Fought with nettle roots for several hours. Watched as I lost 20 quid on the National. Recorded the GP practice for later viewing. Much later, I imagine as we are bound to have to have about 3 hours of The Voice. Fullers London Pride now - a fine pint and fortunately even available in Switzerland, if you know where to look. Only beaten (just) by Young's London bitter, also available and which is the complete business. Never has bottled beer from Blighty been so good.
Man, try taking on a large bed of nettles and brambles that has been established for years, with the idea of eradicating them and reclaiming the ground for a bit more grass. It's a killer. Roots everywhere and they all have to be dug out. That's an awful lot of forking, spading, bending over and lobbing into a wheelbarrow. My garden may not be the size of Switzerland, but to be honest, you could work a 40 hour week in it and still not have it perfect. It is sizeable.
Blummin sounds like it! We used to have a large garden and when we moved here all we got was a layered bit that went down to the stream at the back which we decked, giving us more usable space for BBQ's, parties etc. We had loads of garding equipment to get rid of too. The deck area down to the stream is great and really colourful with the pots of various plants SWMBO has bought and positioned. And it needs no looking after giving us more time to lounge around drinking beer in the summer
Glidd, would you not be better off treating the area with sodium chlorate and leaving it dormant for 12 months. Re-establish next spring?
