  4. As it was Grand National Day I put a bet on 3 horses today - "Sunshine", "Moonlight" & "Good Times".

None of them won - I blame it on the bookie

  6. Went for dinner the other day in one of those restaurants that offers a taster menu with a wine flight.
We’ve been before when it had recently opened and the chef was all about making a big impression.
As the last dish was being served he came out to introduce himself and tell you a bit about the dish in front of you.
It was a cod dish and he had great delight in telling us how the fish was killed while in water, apparently a single blade just behind the gills lets the blood flow and the water supports it weight whilst it bled to death!
We ate, we left, and as I looked back he was sat cross legged on the counter, wearing green tights playing a flute, and winked at me!
    The restaurant was empty.
This time he kept himself busy in the kitchen, just raising his head up to wish us a good night as we left
    The restaurant was full!
    The food was marvellous.

  7. Yesterday I met a few friends at Ducati Manchester as one was picking up his new Diavel. We then went on a great ride up to Settle and had a bit of lunch. Great roads, great company on a great bike! I’m still getting used to the bulk of the Diavel at slow speeds but it’s just a matter of confidence I think.

Last night we all went with our other halves to Salvis Italian restaurant in Manchester. Night was good as the company was excellent .....but the food was a bit “manufactured” and a bit expensive for what it was. I normally steer clear of Italian restaurants as they never taste like “mamma used to make” so that was the only slight downside to a good day.

If the weather perks up today I’ll have a run out over Snake Pass and around Castleton and Matlock. I need to get some miles on before my first service next weekend.

Flights from Heathrow at the end of our garden, so that takes the stress ot of travelling.
    Hope the weather is good.

  9. Next time you’re over this way try Northern Quarter Restaurant, not Italian but one of Manchester’s finest restaurants. Food, service, atmosphere and wine are second to none, and it doesn’t get all ‘Deansgaty’ on a Saturday night either which can spoil a good night out.
We went to Rosso a while back, its owned by footballer Rio Ferdinand it’s big, it’s flash, it’s brassy!
Saturday night, very busy, a few tables down was occupied by two very drunk ladies, one of which vomited on the floor and was quickly escorted off the premises!

  14. Took a sofa and 2 chairs into storage, in my garage for a couple of weeks for a friend. His son is getting his 1st flat with his girlfriend soon and bought it 2nd hand to get them started. :upyeah:

I'm already regretting my benevolence as I'm having to work around them to get to the bikes. That'll teach me to be a good egg.

  15. Spent a few hours on the Diavel today with my friend Colin, who collected his Diavel yesterday. We’ve been to Matlock via Castleton and Snake Pass and had a blast. The Diavel is a great bike and in my opinion is a cross between the Panigale and the Scrambler. Still getting used to moving it around from a standstill as it’s a big lump but I love it.

Just another 250 miles and it’ll be good for it’s first service. :upyeah:
