Sat in the car most of the day visiting BKS leathers in Exmouth, then enjoyed fish and chips and a ice cream
Got the usual bunch of washes out he way early doors, then off to do a bit of touch up n the 998 panels and frame (fiat 'Grigio steel (met) is quite close, but a shade or two light, but with t-cut, ain't so bad, and was just to clean up where a bit of rubbing and scratching has happened and protect the frame a bit). A bit more reassembly, new starter and earth cables parallel with originals (originals approx 10sqmm, added 16sqmm, with an extra earth to the starter motor mounting point), lots of faffing with exhaust springs and brackets to get the termis looking square with centre line. fired her up, and scared the bejaysus out of my parents neighbours - result! Lots of fiddly stuff to sort, but nice to hear she turns over really well, fires up sweet, and ticks over nicely. treated myself to a nice bottle of red .
Laid on the sofa dying, watching WSBK and footy. Also had to talk to MIL & SIL who came for lunch and have just left. I still feel shitty with a banging headache and a bunged up nose. Which is no mean feat with a nose my size.
Nearly got wiped out by car driver on the phone who decide to move from the outside lane to the inside while I was level with his bootlid. In spite of riding with full beam on, so 2x100w (on my bike) with open pipes just feet away at around 35mph he decides to change lane so I braked slightly and sounded my horn till he moved back at which point I moved out behind him and he then moved to the inside lane. As I passed him, there he is with the phone to his ear and I just lost it to the degree that I forced his car to stop on a dual carriageway and he made the mistake of opening his window. BIG MISTAKE. I was literally in there with my lid inches from his nose asking him "What the f****** hell are you doing?" I'm sorry blah blah blah........ "That's no f****** good when I'm dead you ****!" And then he held up his phone and started muttering about an emergency call at which point I really lost it and made a grab for the phone, actually touched it but he just managed to snatch it away now looking very frightened and repeating how sorry he was. At this point I let him have one more load of verbal, started the bike and went. Don't know (or much care) what the queue of traffic that built up behind thought but I felt loads better and I would loved to have handed his phone into the local police station for him to collect. Calmed down now. So that's what I did today.
Sorry about that, was ringing the curry house to get my order in, so it was ready for when I got home.
Brilliant day at Odiham. Great to use the 848 as designed. Tires used right to the edge and after 8 years of riding I GOT MY KNEE DOWN! Never bothered trying before but with an 848 it would be rude not to ;-)
