Having a coffee in the market place and this pulled up

This has inspired me to swing a leg over for a little run out in due course.

Faced with excessive prices for replacement i tried diagnosing the fault with my Baxi boiler.

its 30 years old so the electrics are simple and designed to be maintained

.... after some thinking and testing components i diagnosed a faulty thermister, the component that allows the boiler to sense the temperature of the circulating water.
Tested with a temporary resister of appropriate resistance....
RESULT !
Ordered new thermister for £16.

so that’s £3k of budget into the bike fund

Picked up final batch of fastners from zinc platers for my 748 refresh project.
Took the triple and long way home up into deepest Oxfordshire. Winter gloves today as it was 12/13 degrees. Now done 590 miles. She sings above 10k revs. Nice.

 

You can't beat D.I.Y for personal satisfaction and saving shed loads of cash at the sametime.
