  3. Took dad down to brothers so he can give me a break over christmas, and this morning, remembered I should have paid the 2 uses of the dartford tunnel by midnight last night. I've just paid 11 hours too late, Just have to wait and see what comes through the letterbox:rolleyes:

  4. Phone them up and explain the problem as a friend did this a while back and it was excepted as a genuine mistake, and remember one thing alot of the foreigner truck drivers don't pay.:punch:

  5. Just did and they have confirmed I will be sent a fine letter, I think it's over a hundred quid.

He did say when the letter arrives, phone them up again, they will be able to see I did make the payment albeit 11 hours late and they MAY accept that and no further action but he did say there is no guaranty of that.

    My own fault

  6. Chalk it up to experience and move on in life,it's only money at the end of the day & not life threatening.

  7. Fucking outrageous. Makes you want to take your plates off fuck em.

  8. I'll chat to them when the letter comes, it's the first such event I've had with them. If they say no, I can't argue too much as the fault was mine

  9. That's crap that, noobs. :(

I use the Tyne Tunnel every day to get to work and have a permit. I get a 10% permit discount, but the beauty of it is that it's easier than fishing about for £1.80 in your pockets. They also do a number plate recognition method linked to a direct debit, but I'm paranoid about someone cloning my plate and haven't signed up to that.

Anyway, the point is that unless you have credit in your account for the permit or recognition system, it won't let you through. No fines. :upyeah:

I realise that the Dartford Tunnel doesn't have barriers, but a £100 fine is a joke.

  11. Note I've got my bank details for direct debit on file and have a positive balance of just over £13, however I've been told to top up or get off the system.
The actual last charge was in July 2018.
To avoid any hassle I've just added £10 by debit card....
it does seem a bit off that I have to do this... they've had my money interest free since 2015.

  12. The funny thing is, when the qe2/dartford bridge was being built, we were told it would be free travel when it was paid for. This was paid for in 2003 but in 2001 the government of the day decided to change their mind.

The franchise is currently run by a French firm and the debt collection part is run by an Irish company. This also at a time that the toll fee has been removed on the Welsh severn bridges.

  13. A petition was started by a local man to raise the issue in parliament, but it only got 28K signatures.

  14. They are also trying to get a congestion charge for the A127 from M25 to Basildon, now that should be fun.

  20. Rescued a seal pup, it was yesterday but only just got round to posting! Seems he got a bit battered and bruised from the storm on Tuesday and ended up washed up a long way from the water. He’d still got plenty of fight and “bite” he locked on to the crate at one point but when he realised we were carrying him towards the ocean he calmed down and seem to enjoy the ride :)
