  3. one of my friends of old started the "myhammer.com" thing many years back. she has done very well out of it but for me it was a pain in the arse... for ever looking at jobs only to undercut by some clown.... often i got calls to fix said clowns work but by then the client was out of money and hated any builder they encountered... i do have a mate that gets loads of work via checkatrade and myhammer but its horrible work for mostly horrible people... i know that sounds bad but its like dealing with we buy any cay and their clients...if that makes sense...

  4. worked in chatel for a few months and loved it.. off ski season and building... really loved it... communication was a bit difficult and the local suppliers were not to friendly to begin with, but after a few weeks of them realising our money was good, things improved... id go back any time.

  5. Ok then, what about trying the Alps for a change of scenery or a Leaflet drop / plus a full advertisement in your local rag for drumming up business.for me it's always been word of mouth or repeat work with the clients.

  6. Sorry to hear that chisel, where about s are you are you based buddy?

  7. Back from a night at the Hotel du Vin in Poole (really good offer) - good room and food but let down by the bill being wrong (2 glasses of wine became a bottle, one pudding became two - seems to happen more and more). Popped into the S Bomb for a cup of tea.
This evening decided to check tyre pressures. 748 -the gauge (X-race) worked fine and then tried it on the 600 and it wouldn't seal (i.e. the air just kept coming out). I'm assuming the gauge should have a rubber seal / o ring which fell out? Can't find anything on the floor though??

  9. ive never really struggled to find work but i guess ive been a bit lazy in the last few years as ive had a job that has paid me enough to get by so ive not looked about and also lost contact with alot of folk i used to get work off... id kinda like to do price work but having done that in the past, i find it hard to get enthusiastic about going out and pricing work... yes, the rewards are there but the time spent and the time wasters just put me off..
that said, i spoke to my boy today about designing me some lefletes (hes a wiz on that shit) and im thinking even when i find another job, i might try and get my own stuff happening again...
