  5. Collected the Multistrada from Ducati Worcester having had the oil seal on the cam belt output shaft replaced. They ordered the part from the factory last Thursday so not bad. Glad to get the bike back before there's a lock-down or the dealership closes it's doors. Filled with fuel, weather looking good for the weekend. Was raining today but was nice to get out on two wheels.

I did have a newer 1260 on loan which wasn't bad but it had the seat lowered and the standard seat, I now fully accept that buying the comfort seats was a good move. I had noticed that it was far comfier over a longer period, the original was not pleasant after 100 or so miles, especially motorway.

  6. Sorted out next years insurance for the V2 and the scrambler and it was only £10 more than last year :upyeah:

Just need this covid 19 thing to blow over and to get some decent weather so I can use them both :)

  7. Ordered a tail tidy, and shed loads of coffee as I’m now destined to be working from home for the foreseeable.. oh and moved my reservoir so it doesn’t hit the screen, and cleaned my chain now that my mate has kindly turned me a 40mm sleeve and pressed it on my old 848 axle pin for me

  14. Got up, sent emails about Covid-19, received more emails about Covid-19, got phoned about Covid-10, thought I'd have a change so spent an hour on a webinar discussing Covid-19. Tomorrow I'm pretty much expecting a repeat of today.
    Interesting times!

  17. On stand-by for the rest of this week with the caveat that our roster may change with little or no notice, if there is a move to scale down large numbers of personnel based offshore and run installations with minimal staffing levels.

As many will have read, the airline industry is being hit hard by the current Coronavirus pandemic, which comes as no surprise. From my perspective, in the rotary wing offshore commercial sector, it is not as clear cut. Things are changing day by day. Risk assessments for de-manning platforms in cases of suspected outbreaks offshore, dis-infection protocols for aircraft, crew exposure to close proximity personnel and passengers, staggered flights, cleaning regimes at work, overseas training facility closures for recurrent simulator training etc etc. As an industry we are always further down the line of dominoes, before things begin to take a noticeable effect. With Brent Crude at US$30 a barrel as of yesterday, that is generally a foreboding of worse to come, and that is despite all the health implications. It's a very cyclical industry at the best of times but this might end up being a nail in the coffin for many in the oil/gas supply chain, these being the very companies that my employers are dependent on.

  18. I thought so as well. I never gave the current madness and paranoia a second thought, although I was tempted to start panic buying more motorbikes, it just makes so much sense and why would you not. :):upyeah:

The previous owner said he`d serviced it a couple of hundred miles ago, judging by the mileage that could have been a couple of years ago, so I had an hour on it last night stripping it down. The air filter was gopping, couldn`t find another one but found an AJP "dealer" so hopefully........
I asked my mate if he`d bought one before. He said no, but if I get one can I get him one as well......hmmm, not the answer I was looking for

Oil and filter should be ok, normal engine oil and three reusable oil filters.

  19. SWMBO is into family history. She’s even membership secretary of the local group (she was talked into that because no one else would do it).

Anyway the reason I mentioned it is because when researching you have to be meticulous otherwise you could end up going down the wrong path and follow someone else’s family line. Particularly if they have a very common name like John Smith.

Her family tree on her mums side is very interesting and she managed to get back to early/mid 1700s before she got stuck. She’s now started on her dads side and has uncovered lots of relatives she never knew about in Hampshire, and she’s now in communication with them too.
