How do you rate the Abba Skylift? Easy to use? As good/useful as it appears in their vids? Safe in use? Also, did you have to get many of the adapters (you’ve a few different bikes) or just the one which works across most of the Duc range? Sorry for so many ?????? Chiz but Im just weighing up between a Skylift or workbench myself and the Skylift takes up much less space in the shed it would seem whilst being a whole lot more versatile TIA
no, all questions are good. i rate it pretty highly. i had to buy fitting kits for 3 of the bikes so far, a few are interchangeable but none of mine are . that said the kits are only like 15-20 quid and will last a life time.. it is pretty easy to use, it has some flaws as in accessibility to some parts of the bike but thats a given if you think about it, but over all its a fantastic thing. the bonus over a conventional work bench type lift is the free area under the bike, i guess the only down side is the stand blocking you some access to the left of the bike. but it is so quick to drop bike down and remove the stand that if you plan things right its not a prob.. overall i think its a great bit of kit and wish i had of had one many years ago.
Trying to sort a big and stubborn air blockage in my hot water system, so far defeated but will let it rest for a few hours to see if measures taken will work through.
Occasionally I get called to a job where the hot supply to a shower gets an air block. I’ve adapted a tyre valve and foot pump combo to fit the 15mm pipe after using my lungs proved too difficult Really needs the pipe work re-routing, but it only happens every blue moon and is a quick fix.
I have a couple of them, one used as a display stand and one in the garage - I made a wheel alignment jig too for my project. Bike lifts (using under yoke paddock stands and rear stands) have their advantages too and I will buy one soon I think - just need to make more room in the garage by selling a couple of bikes first Beware of some bike lifts as the platforms are too small - if going budget then the Clarke is about the best that @Robarano uses so for once I will copy him and go for one of those.
This is a problem if the hot supply to all hot taps in the house. Tried cupping hand under bath taps both opened to try and get the cold water up the hot tap and push the air out a few times this am.
You can try blocking off a mixer tap with your hand, open the hot then the cold,slowly, the higher cold pressure may blow the air lock back up the hot pipe. Do it in the kitchen, normally cold mains pressure.
I have tried that a couple of times without success. Did it in bathroom so not using direct external cold water
I've had my Clarke lift bought from Machine Mart for about 4 years. It's been trouble free in all this time and worth its weight in gold. I went for the hydraulic pedal only option and didn't bother with the air lift. Unless you are lifting and lowering a bike 10 times a day, this was the correct option for me. I tend to put a bike on the table for a few days at a time and plugging in an air supply and turning on a compressor was just a chew on for what it gave me. It takes 20 seconds to fot pump the lift to it's fully up poition. Use the Machine Mart VAT free days when buying. They have about 4 a year. Sign up to their newsletter to have offers mailed to you. The Clarke table is wide enough to cope with paddock stands and I've never been caught out with it not being wide enough. It weighs a ton (not literally, but it's bloody heavy) Have fun.
Took up the old carpet and put down some halfords garage floor tiles, then sorted everything out to make room for a possible new arrival
I'd a small but decent FIX rideout as the sun was shinning on me,also found this very nice antler in the garden today.
