  4. Well this morning, after yesterday’s further lockdown announcements, we’ve decided to cancel our forthcoming holiday down in the Isle of Wight and the New Forest.

This is the second time we’ve had to cancel it this year. I’m not best pleased.

  5. Sorry to hear that mate. Very frustrating - I’m supposed to be going to Canada over Christmas but something tells me that ain’t going to happen.

  6. Bummer Tel, we have a grandchild due very soon back on the Island got a feeling that's going to go tits up travel wise.:mask:

  7. Hastings Direct sent me my renewal notice this morning for my 635d, gone up from £335 last year (9 years no-claims and includes courtesy car, legal costs and breakdown/recovery) to £440.

Did the internet web comparison site search and found Liverpool Victoria at £315, so I phone Hastings Direct to cancel renewal, and (miracle of miracles) they've cut the quote from £440 to £302.

The insurance companies take us for fools who can't be arsed to shop around :punch::punch::punch:

  8. A while back I asked an insurance broker I know why companies offer uncompetitive renewals when it’s so easy to check on comparison sites.
Exactly as you say, he said they rely on people just accepting the quote and you’d be amazed at how many there are.

  9. Well, decided to take the Bayliss out today and checked the tyre pressures - all good until I took the pump off the front one - core valve didn’t shut so tyre pressure zero
I was already running late so out on the R1 instead as I didn’t know where my spare valves were.
Now home and found the valves and fixed.
A mate turned up on a new bike, he’d kept it quiet for nearly a month while getting the wheels powder coated :eyes:

  10. And some hotels have taken the opportunity to change their T’s & C’s to say that there’s no refund if the booking is cancelled more than 24 hours after the booking is made. No if, no buts.

So far I’m down £140 on deposits and I’m not sure if we’ll get anything back on the I-o-W ferry booking.

And that cnut O’Leary from Ryanair still hasn’t paid SWMBO’s costs from a cancelled flight in April.

  11. Was on the floor in the shed fixing panels back on the ‘916 Anniversario’ when I spy what looks like a giant staple . Feck it :mad:, it dawns on me exactly what it is. Bugger! It’s the clip which holds the electrical connector in place on the top of the vertical cylinder injector on the Monster:(. Now I have to remove ALL the plastics, the tank, the ECU, the battery, the battery holder and then the airbox just to get to it :(.

    Ah well, that’ll teach me.

  13. I found this by my project today.

The very nice people on the 675 forum identified it as a headlamp vent snorkel. I thought it was off the tank or air box. Live and learn.

    Also done gardening

    Also walked doggies :)

Now off to Halfords to collect the big socket needed to get the top yolk off the Triple so I can replace the bent clip on.

  16. IMG_20200919_170328_0.jpg IMG_20200919_170226_0.jpg I fitted some nice aftermarket levers to my 916 and replaced some cheap nasty stainless bolts on another bike with some Ti bolts. All purchased from China.
And before it starts, I'm aware of what I'm doing, I'm happy with the quality of not just the machining but also the materials used.
