Trying to constrain my frustration from boiling over a having words with a garage 'technician'. The vRS front passenger door lock is jammed. You can hear the solenoid struggling before giving up and you can't open the door from inside either. Asked a local 'specialist' to remove the door card and identify the problem so we can tell the warranty company and get the repair authorised. A woman in reception said that she would negotiate with the wareanty company and let me know when things had progressed. Expected maybe a couple of hours to elapse but no, I'm chasing around to find out what is going on a couple of hours ago. 'Oh, we are waiting for the warranty company to authorise the £500 replacement of the door lock mechanism. Did you need the car back ?'. Yes, the car belongs to a 21 year old who has a life. 'Oh, if you take the car it will cost you £60 for the diagnosis which we've included in the warranty claim and we can't guarantee we have a slot in the workshop to do the job. We are very busy you know.' So what did you find says I ? 'The door lock is broken'. I f**king know that, what caused the failure ?. 'We don't know, we fed the symptoms onto the computer and it said the lock had failed.' So you didn't remove the door card ? 'Oh no, we wouldn't do that in case we damaged it' WTF ? So what is the £60 charge for, some monkey typing into a computer ? ...... And it continues, the f**king warranty company is taking technical advice to see if they will authorise the repair which I now find out, we have to pay 40% of the bill because the car is 8 years old Not a happy chappy I can tell you.
