Me and Lady Vader had our Boosters on Sunday. Had mine in Kidderminster which was Moderna, had to take wife to Stourbridge for hers, she got Pfizer. She’s quite rough today, I’m not brilliant but my bloody arm hurts where i was stabbed and my arm pit hurts too?
Ordered a replacement kitchen tap, then out for coffee & lunch with an old friend this morning. Managed to get a cancellation slot to see my osteopath on Weds to do his lower-back magic. I've got my friendly mobile tyre-fitting bloke coming 'first thing' tomorrow (8, 9, who knows?) to replace the Hyper front and whip off the tyres from the R1200S wheels that I'm going to get repainted. Then I'll start on the (re)decorating I've got planned. This time-off work lark ('til Jan) is busy! I can see how you retired blokes don't have any spare time...
Well, 8.55 is 'first thing', so job jobbed on the Hyper front tyre and I delivered the corroded beemer wheels to the painter - hopefully ready for pickup before Xmas... I won't bore you with IKEA lighting department's low stock issues and (unusually) poor customer service. I think she was having a bad day...
Ah the digit tales! I was once stood with my hand on a door frame, big old oak door when a mate decided to slam it and lock it! Unfortunately my minimus was in there! Straight off!!!! Down to the joint! They sewed it back on but he’s not much use! Then bugger me a few years ago index finger got pulled in to the table saw! My fault! Straight off! Down to frenchay little op and back on! Looks a bit odd but usable!
blimey, I should worry then.. lots of mates with missing last joints as nearly all met via engineering.
Almost a rite of passage in some Engineering disciplines. Foundries had some pretty horrific stories, sheet metal shops, machine shops, press tooling, rolling mills and drop forging eek! Digits don’t like going through chain wheels and gearboxes!
Took the little Black lunatic for a good long walk today with the intention of tiring him out….. You did ask for scenery @Ducbird My mate Pete had worked a decent route out 9 miles taking in the climb up to Captain Cook’s monument and then around up and over Roseberry Topping, so plenty of climbing to wear the Black Looney out.. Looking back to towards CC where we’d just come from.. Me saying to Zack, “ sit you daft bugger!”…by the time I got my rucksack back on he was half way up the climb And we are going up this, Roseberry Topping, you can see the footpath zig zagging up on the rhs of fence.. Approaching the trig point on the top Zack drops a gear, guns it ,..and beats everyone to the top.. Only 320 meters above sea level here but the views all around are fantastic ! Looking out to the coast towards Redcar here and you can see a ship at sea.. Pete looking back towards Kildale, on the first hill just in front of Pete you can see the spike of Captain Cooks monument, that’s where we’d walked around.. So lucky with the weather today for December, just look at that big, big sky,….and dead mild as well.. A cracking day out Grommet …..and I’m sure it tired Zack out …..a bit ??..yeah right, at the end of 9 miles and umpteen feet of climbing he could only run at about 32 mph instead of the 35 mph when we set out !!
Pumped the tyres up on the mountain bikes, and dragged the lawnmower back up to the shed. I’m living the dream.
Another day on phone to TNT who now say, despite duty paid, that my wheel has somehow gone back to TNT hub in Koln. To add insult to injury I got home just now and have a letter from TNT/FedEx asking for duty to be paid on my wheel. The wheel they’ve had since 4th October; released, clawed back, lost then posted back to Germany. Even though I paid the duty 3 weeks ago. What an utter farce. Apparently according to TNT I can’t sue them!! Thyssen Krupp who made my wheel can’t believe how incompetent they are and will no longer use them as a courier.
I made these this afternoon This morning I cleaned up and put away my outside lights and lanterns ready for spring
That, Ducbird, is the understatement of the decade. I’ve waited over a year and a half for this wheel and systemic incompetence by TNT/FedEx has made this a right mare.
Got a new set of boots , Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE and delivered covid stuff between general hospitals and some peeps at home. The tyres seem to be much better than PR5s , much more neutral roll, a bit stiffer than most but comfortable. Can’t wait to thrash em.
