  1. Standards so important! Leaving ones bin out on public display! Never. I have often said one can tell so much about a chap from his binlineage. Soon be next week!

  2. Received a shock WhatsApp message early this morning, a friend we had dinner with on Tuesday tested positive for COVID this morning. Thankfully I have tested negative as did Carole but I’ll be testing again tomorrow just to be sure. Andy

  4. More likely one of the restaurant waiters. Andy

  5. My CTek battery charger was delivered at 7.40am this morning by DPD. I was still in bed

Anyway the fitting is different to the fitting put on the Bayliss by the dealer. I've had a look at what to do to change it but as I is a cack handed Luddite then it will have to wait till I take the bike in to the shop for them to do. :p

  6. In bed on your bin day! Dear me! Hope you didn’t miss the wheelie boys.

  7. Grey bin was out last night :upyeah:

As an aside I had to order a new hinge pin for the green bin yesterday as it seems one has disappeared after having been blown over a few days ago in the storms

  8. Throw a picture of the connector on the end of the pig tail fitted to the bike Terry. I might have something to get you charging. Andy

  9. This is what’s fitted to the bike

This is what the CTek fitting looks like (I think)

  11. Okay, you have 3 options, buy a Ctek to Optimate adaptor, about £14 off Amazon, attach the pig tail that came with the Ctek charger to the battery instead of the Optimate lead or exchange your Ctek for an equivalent Optimate charger. This IMO is the simplest solution, https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-56-56...43&hvtargid=pla-486957975267&psc=1&th=1&psc=1. Andy

  12. Cleaned the crud out of the front sprocket cover. Often an area of neglect but I’ve not seen it this bad. Has anyone got experience of these OEM sprockets with the dampers on them? Is the chain designed to rub on them to reduce noise or is it a sign the sprocket is worn? I’m thinking the latter

  13. I've used them on lower powered Cagiva bikes but they didn't have the large rim that yours displays, i'm guessing this is a fail-safe feature, and yes, pretty certain that that "rub" is wrong. I know it's hard to assess with the chain tension on, but have you checked the sprocket for radial and axial play?

  14. I haven’t yet because in honesty my plan was just to replace it with a 15t sprocket but I’m not sure now whether I should really do the chain and sprockets as a set, normally as a rule I wouldn’t mind on low mileage bikes just doing a sprocket but my bike has 15k miles on it

  15. I wil probably get slated but i've often done 2 front sprockets to one rear over the years, especially if rear sprocket is steel (I realise yours isn't).

  16. It is actually Steel, it's the standard OEM one at looks really good, so I might just change the front one for now, or buy a chain measurer, as they are quite cheap and handy to have.

  17. no brainer for me then, you know you can get a good idea of the state of things by pulling/trying to pull the chain off the rear sprocket at the 3 o'clock position, you have to interpret this carefully of course, as can show sprocket wear and/or chain wear.

  18. The moulded in ring is really just a damper when you engage gear and get slight chain whip jump. Two schools of thought, replace the lot or swop out front. Really should bed in as a set but each to their own.
Keeping it clean, well lubed and correctly adjusted far more important.
Fresh start with a fresh set is satisfying and a good start for your own maintenance schedule.

  19. Me pulling my hair out putting the shiny fastners back onto the motorcycle today, my notes and photographs are rubbish...i'll need to try harder next time with the details.
