Day 3 was Schull-Killarney via Kenmare

    Day 4 was Killarney-Galway

  6. Just got back from the MoT testing station, with a pass, hoorah but with an advisory, boo. I’ve know the guys for years so asked why and new for this year, they have been instructed that any non standard (aftermarket) exhaust fitted to a bike, whether that exhaust is EU homologated and compliant to current standards or not, is now a mandatory advisory. No idea if this a local initiative or national. @cookster, is this something you have been asked/instructed to do ? I’m not bothered because my exhaust is fully EU homologated and compliant officer (and I carry the certificate supplied with the exhaust as evidence). It might be a bit noisier than standard but fully stamped up. Andy

  7. I passed also but with two advisories, both tyres which I was a little surprised by. The bike has the noisy Termignonis on, and I didn’t have time to put the baffles in however no mention was made of the exhaust.

  8. Ducati and Termignoni are synonymous, even to people who don’t “know” Ducatis so could be assumed to be OE. Sadly my Arrow clearly is not and the tester is all to familiar with Ducatis. Nice the Monster passed though :upyeah: Andy

  9. I got the all clear!
    :)
although hospitals being hospitals they want to see me in another six months which is fair enough.

  15. 8.1.1. Exhaust noise
If possible, you should assess the exhaust noise by revving the engine to approximately half the maximum engine speed. The engine should be warm before you carry out this check.

It is not possible to rev the engine on twist and go type motorcycles.

The exhaust system and silencer should be in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the motorcycle is not clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar motorcycle with a standard silencer in average condition.

    Defect Category
    (a) Exhaust noise levels in excess of those permitted Major
    (b) Any part of the exhaust system:

    (i) insecure
    (ii) likely to become detached

    Major
    Dangerous

You must inspect all motorcycles with an internal combustion engine, including hybrid motorcycles.

A minor exhaust leak from, for example, a connection joint or a pinhole does not justify rejection.

Exhaust noise is assessed under Section 8.1.1.

    Defect Category
    (a) Exhaust system has a major leak or is insecure Major
    (b) Not in use
    (c) An exhaust silencer marked ‘NOT FOR ROAD USE’, ‘TRACK USE ONLY’ or similar words Major

  16. New rear tyre fitted to the car. Apparently I’ll need two new front tyres in a couple of months, which I kind of knew anyway :)

  17. That makes sense and I can see the interpretation in what was said. Thank you. Andy
