A short day today, only about 110 miles after the 285 yesterday. A coffee and ice cream stop on the Moselle river and lunch, curry wurst , at the Ring. BBQ tonight and maybe, just maybe mind, one or two Bitburgers Andy
Went to the gym, had a toasted ham n cheese sandwich when I got home, popped to Snells, then stuck 170 miles on the SF. Off to our favourite pub for dinner.
Someone's a long way from home today in Lingfield, also another that's had a fun day out in Morrisons at Oxted.
Here's a quick question. I got pulled by the police today. I was driving along in town at 0830 minding my own business when the peelers pulled alongside and told me to pull in. They started giving me awful gyp about driving with L plates when I wasn't a learner. It was my lads car (which I bought, is in my name til he passes, and I'm a named driver on, and is fully taxed and insured) They kept badgering me over and over again about it to the extent that a normally fairly placid person (me), was getting vexed enough to tell the main culprit to go fcuk himself. I apologised as soon as they said what they'd pulled me over for, and said I had no idea. I only took his car because it was blocking mine in and I didn't have the energy to move it They made me get out in the rain and take the plates off, even though I pointed out my destination, which was about 200 yards away and was in a safe car park. I'm still pissed off at their attitude tbh, but wonder is this a thing, or were they making it up?
I no expert in this field but i think they should be removed if your not teaching the person, for the past two weeekends i've seen around about twenty / thirty cars in convoy heading towards the Lingfield direction with many blacked out windows...............where are the police for this situation.????????????
Found this after a quick search: https://www.drivingtesttips.biz/illegal-to-drive-with-l-plates.html It suggests the police were in the wrong if they told you it was offence. There may be other sources that say different. Either way, they were being dicks.
Regardless, the police should have spent their time more productively. They should be aware there are far more important things to do than harrass you for displaying L plates.
I couldn't agree more. And my word did they labour the point over and over again, like it was some kind of victory. Protect and serve? I try to be neutral/ nice about the police, but things like this on a quiet road at half eight on a Saturday morning don't help.
Absolutely correct, however I’m going to make an assumption,we are of a similar age group,I spent an inordinate amount of time being harassed by the local constabulary for no fucking reason at all other than they were bullied at school. Bitter, not me. Pricks
Flip the scenario he could have been a learner driver on his own for all the police knew Then there would be posts of how bad the police are for not stopping a learner on their own and say they had knocked someone down or driven the wrong way up a one way street or crashed into your car
