  2. Looks like fun - is it a crossbow?

I'll ask the nurse if we're allowed ballistic weapons...

  3. It is, and it’s surprisingly powerful and accurate! But perfectly legal. Nursey says yes!

  4. Made up a couple of sidestand plates / cords. Bought some paracord, aluminium ferrules and some cord locks. Used a hydraulic press to compress the ferrules and lock them in place. Loop end goes over the handlebar grip and tightens using the cord lock. When you want to set off, loosen the cord lock and remove the loop end from the handlebar and retrieve the sidestand plate using the paracord, so no need to bend down to pull out the plate from under the sidestand, once you are on the bike. Figured I would make up a pair, one for me and one for the wife.

  12. Wow! That's a blast from the past. We used to stay at a B&B in Mount Hawke every summer when I was a kid. There was a village hall or similar building that had a metal 5-bar gate on the entrance, which I fell off while swinging on it and I ended up in Truro A&E having stitches put in my back. Tbf though, most holidays ended with me in A&E at some point, sometimes more than once (one year I got stung by a Weaver Fish and then the next day I dislocated my thumb), because I was a restless and reckless lad. I also absolutely loved climbing and when I was 8, I had to be rescued by the coastguard from the cliffs at St Agnes after I got half way up, but the shale started crumbling under my feet and I got stuck.

That was the 70s though, when children were allowed a lot more freedom (and danger), but I imagine if a kid kept getting injured and in peril so often these days then social services would be called in. :D

  13. Three and a half hours of my back tattoo this afternoon and I bled like a pig!

Three sessions left I reckon and I look forward to each less than the previous.

  17. That would be awesome. I had a look at the pics you posted and the house next door to what I assume is your cottage looks like it might be the one we used to stay in.

Set off on day 2 to walk up the coast to Bamburgh, called in at the Life Boat station in Seahouses on the way up, boat was out doing its thing, but this launch rig was hellish impressive, some engineering in this!
