  1. Nice.

  2. I wouldn’t worry: people with that money only have to put a couple of grand in the tory coffers to avoid any tax :upyeah:

  3. was about to book car MOT when I remembered how I lost my patience with the passenger interior door handle, which is a fail of course. Available for 40 quid online but going to get one off my breaker car instead.

  8. Helped take a few courses of bricks down as there was a huge root that had grown in between the wall and had blown some of the brickwork.
This evening I fitted my carbon belt covers that arrived today.

Not a bad start to the week.

  10. So far today, i've just made the bins intime for the important people in life, gobbled up two slices of toast and now in twenty minutes or so renew the insurance on a superlight.

  14. Took apart two sets of bi-fold doors that were always jamming. i worked out that whoever fitted them was out by about 8mm on the height and couldn’t be arsed sorting it. I took off the top runners, packed them out, and reassembled. The doors are now silky smooth. The packing is hidden behind a facing. I’m quite pleased with myself. :)
Why are there so many crap tradesmen out there? No pride in their work. I guess there’s enough they don’t have to care about repeat business.
Hmm, maybe I should have posted in the frustration venting thread.

  15. Agreed, you should split your post 50/50 you’d have 2 posts then thereby increasing your post count. As you say there’s just no pride left in anything these days.

  17. I'm with you on the terrible trades folk out there seven days a week wrecking peoples lives with poor workmanship & sky high invoices, my uvpc front door was fitted before i landed here, with the upright frame bowed the door does not open properly on the lock mechanism, it's fully adjusted but still no damn good.

  18. Bodgit & Scarper do seem to be getting too much work today, and if you happen to find a gem of a workperson now, then the queue can be right round the block.

  19. I had this conversation with one of my customers yesterday, she has had a lot of bad tradesmen that don’t seem to finish things off properly.
I have always noticed a surge in bad trades when their is recession or situations like the last couple of years where people lose the job they had and so decide to set up as a self employed tradesperson. A few tools in the back of the car and away you go……sadly it’s not that easy.

  20. I was talking with a quality bathroom fitter yesterday, his experience has been people have been putting work off as a result of uncertain markets and the cost of living

I booked him in for a new bathroom after Christmas.
